When A year ago
Studio Unique Ink
Location Marion, IL
Two years ago, with much research and persuasion, I finally got my mom to consent to letting me get my navel pierced. I chose to go to Unique Ink in Marion, IL. Truthfully, at the time, the reason I picked UI was because it was one of the only places in the area that does which shop to go to, but now after asking around and having multiple body mod expierences, I will go there as long as I'm creative and they're open because they're unbeleiveably kind and their work is amazing. Now there are a lot of piercing and tattoos parlors in my area but many of them seem to be pretty poor quality. They may be cheap, but as they say, you get what you pay for.

A year later I started jonesing for another piercing. Something people would actually know I have and is not hidden under a shirt. Something on my face would be wonderful, I decided. I did some wandering around piercing galleries and fell in love with the eye brow piercing. It's not overpowering but obvious enough.

Seeing how well the previous piercing went, the parentals were much more open to the idea and took me a soon as I had the money. I arrived at the shop, signed all of the papers and chatted with my piercer as he set up. I wasn't very nervous because I had read many peoples' experiences and knew what I was getting into. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is to be uninformed, so take some time to do some research. If you are serious about your piercing you will enjoy finding out information about it.

While sitting in the comfy leather piercing chair, I noticed his beloved exotic fish that was in the piercing room before was gone. I learned he tragically died and although I was sad for my piercer's loss, it put me at ease to conversate with him. Your piercer should make you feel comfortable.

He gave me a few jewelry options and I chose a simple barbell because of my activity level, as I figured a ring would get caught on things. He opened the needless and such from their sterile packages, cleaned the jewelry and my eyebrow with I beleive it was iodine. During the whole preparation of the equipment, he was talking to me and making me feel comfortable. He was personable and made me feel at ease. Then he marked my eyebrow with a marker. After my approval of placement, he made sure I was comfortable and readyto go. Then he got eye level with my eye brow, steadied his hand, told me to be prepared for pressure and a slight stinging (which I thought was an understatement, but my pain tolerance is not fantastically high) and then he pushed the needle through. It was a little painful but no more than was expected, and it was definetly worth it. A few seconds of pain = a beautiful piercing that will [hopefully] last a life time. I tipped him five dollars for his wonderful service and was on my way to Duckets Gamestation, to surprise my friends and hang out.

It was a little swollen for the first few hours and sore to the touch, but nothing out of the ordinary. The next few days it was rather sore and the sea salt water soakings made it feel better. It took a while to figure out what I could use to soak it with easily, and after many failed attempts with various kinds of cups, I found that small Dixie cups (like you use in your bathroom) work amazingly for soaking facial piercings.

The week after I got my eybrow pierced, I had band camp. It got jousled a few times and got red and sore again, but that was my fault and with a little extra T L C it seemed to be fine. The sweat seemed to bother it a little to, making it rather tender but I started to wear sweat bands to minimize this problem. My advice for you is to do whatever you can to keep you new piercing clean and comfotable.

Both of my piercings have healed wonderfully because of the high quality service of Unique Ink and regular aftercare. Go to a respectable place and take care of your piercings! Aftercare is esential.

It has been a year since I have gotten my eyebrow pierced and in December I am getting my lip pierced. Can't wait! I guess it's true that piercings are rather addicting. I swear this is my last one. Although that is what I said after I got my eybrow done. Eep.

I hope this helps someone, and happy healing. Be safe guys, and don't do it yourself! Your just asking for trouble!
