It was another boring as day at work and I had a lot of time to think. I decided I needed another piercing, but what?

I wanted something a little different but not too extreme, something aesthetically pleasing to me. I remembered how cool IAM:v_lup2us's bridge looked, and hadn't actually ever seen anyone else around here with one, so decided upon this as my next piercing. After work I stopped into Insane Ink (Dee's shop), this is starting to become a weekly ritual of mine, and had a chat with Dee for a bit.
After a while I asked if she had time for a piercing ( it's bad, but I never make appointment's – I never know what I'm doing to...), she said sure and I asked for a bridge. She was a little surprised I said a Bridge, as she's been in the new shop for almost 12 months now and I'm the first to ask for one.
We talked for a bit about the piercing and I chose the jewelry, then we were set to go...I waited out the front while she set everything up in the piercing area out back. She had to set up the second area which she doesn't normally use as Steve, the apprentice tattooist there was doing a pubic tat on a friend of his.
After about 10 minutes she called me around. I sat on the bench and watched as she took the clamps and needles out the autoclave.
Now came time to mark me up. She measured up the bar I'd chosen and I told her where I wanted it positioned. As she moved in to mark out the dots she freaked and jumped when I went cross-eyed, as I was following the point of the marker as it approached me.
We laughed for a second then got back to business. I closed my eyes this time so I wouldn't bother her with crossed eyes again, and after a minute I was all marked up.
I had a look in the mirror and was happy with the placement, so now it was time for the needle.I sat back down on the bench, and prepared myself for everything. The clamps went on and it took a few goes for Dee to get them in the right spot. The skin there is pretty tight so it was quite a pinch with the clamps on, but then they're always the most annoying part of any piercing now aren't they?
As Dee was reaching for the needle I got a sudden rush of nerves as a quick thought of the kind of pain I was about to feel passed through my head. I cleared it straight away though and was ready for the needle.
Dee said take a deep breath in, and then pop!, in the needle went. I was VERY surprised at this point because there was almost no pain involved whatsoever! It felt just as it did when I got ma nape pierced.
Dee asked if I was ok and I said I was, she asked again just to make sure and I told her it totally didn't hurt. I don't think she believed me, just that I was putting on a brave face, but once she saw the smile I had she believed me.
I had a look in the mirror and fell in love with it straight away. Dee began to clean things up and I went around front to talk to Steve, who had finished tattooing, and to pay. After a few minutes Dee came out and we all talked for a bit more, then I paid for the piercing and left for home; about 2 hours after I arrived for a procedure that only took about 10 minutes...
I left the store and began to walk to the bus-stop, right as it began to pour down with rain. The bus finally arrived and the driver gave me a strange look when he saw the bridge that wasn't there 2 hours earlier. He asked if it hurt (I'm so getting sick of that question!), I said no and moved to the back of the bus.
I got home and mum kinda freaked at it, but she's used to my new additions by now so didn't say much... just the usual no more piercings or you're out lecture.Aftercare was interesting. I did what I do with all my piercings, an antibacterial wash in the morning and a salt soak at night, but it just wouldn't heal up for the first 3 or 4 weeks, bleeding every time I removed the crusties...
I had, for general health reasons, decided to quit smoking, and within 3 days my bridge had miraculously healed up, no more bleeding or crusties! Great!
It's been almost 2 months now and everything is going good, I'm going back in a few weeks to change the jewelry to a shorter bar, simply coz I haven't had the time to yet.For anybody interested in this piercing, go for it! It's not at all a painful one, and looks awesome on pretty much anybody!
Happy piercing,
