I decided to get my bridge pierced about 4 months before it actually happened. My mom was OK with the idea(well originally I wanted dual horizontal eyebrows, both on same brow, but that changed after more browsing through BME.) I had to wait because I had phys ed that semester and my teacher wouldn't allow jewellery in class; it's not part of the 'uniform' (my school's t-shirt and shorts, socks and shoes.) Alot of people, after hearing this, seem to think that I'm implying that piercings aren't allowed at my school, that's incorrect, just in phys ed(well theres a couple teachers who don't care, but most do, one guy in my class went down 40% because he wouldn't take his eyebrow barbell out, and he tried to compromise by offering to take off the balls, or to get a retainer, but the teacher said neither would work.) So I had to wait...
At A Glance Author Tsukasa Contact itsme8788@hotmail.com When Six months ago Artist Mark Studio Eye of the Needle Location Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada Mid January I made an appointment at Eye of the Needle, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (where I live,) for the next day at 2 o'clock. So the next day I phoned my mom(I don't live with her,) her car couldn't start(the whole week we were getting around -50 degrees[Celsius] with the wind chill.) So I re-booked the appointment, next day same thing, so I asked my grandma if she could give us a ride, she did.
So finally I got there, January 28th. Went in, my mom signed the form and waited in the lobby(I was 15 at the time, at Eye of the Needle you need to be 18 to sign for yourself.) My piercer Mark, and I went into the piercing room. I sat down on the bed-thingie that you'd normally find at the doctors'. Mark proceeded by putting the dots on my nose(although I consider a bridge piercing to be more closely related to eyebrow than nose piercings.) That only took around 5 minutes. Then he put the clamps on and changed gloves. He told me to lay down, I did, and to take deep breaths. On my second breath, right while I was inhaling he pushed the needle through (I wasn't expecting it, because from all the stories I read on BME it was always during the third exhale the needle was pushed through.) THAT HURT! IT was tolerable but immense, and really indescribable Needle comes out, barbell goes in, clamp comes off, feels a bit better, I jerk upright, fast. He puts the other ball on and I stand up, look in the mirror and walk towards the door, almost falling in the process (I hadn't eaten for at least 5 hours and was about to pass out.) So I sit back down for a few seconds, start to feel better, exit the room, take a few steps then after a few seconds the feeling returns I kneel down and lean against the wall, everyone was looking at me(which wasn't very many people, one person waiting, the receptionist(who is also a piercer and tattoo artist,) my mom, my grandma(who just came in) and Mark. I went and sat down and Mark brought me a Sprite. I would have preferred root-beer, but the sprite sufficed, the dizziness went away really fast. I paid and tried not to laugh, as my mom was staring at me funny as it kind of hurt... Then I left, I though it would be extra sensitive to the cold weather but it wasn't, but I also wasn't exposed to it for more than a few seconds before I got into the car. While I was paying my mom decided to get her belly button pierced and she booked an appointment for the next week.
The questions I get asked are starting to get annoying and some of them are out of plain stupidity.
"Does it go through the bone?" Yep, they had to drill through it and everything! *Sarcasm*
"Did it hurt?" What do *you* think? I got stabbed with a fucking needle!
"Does it still hurt?" no comment
And someone even asked me this (exact words):
"Is that like, a piercing or something?" It's *like* a piercing, but it isn't.
Now around 7 months later, It's healed fine, but I have a bit of an infection. I took his after care advice too seriously, he told me that over cleaning was bad as it erodes the skin(his hands were raw from washing them so often) and that laziness can be good while the piercing is healing, that's the part I took too seriously. After two days I stopped cleaning it, that combined with me playing with alot made it infected. Now I'm cleaning it and trying not to play with it as much. My little cousin (seven years old) seems fascinated by it, when I was at her place visiting she'd run up to me every once and a while and run her finger over the middle of it a few times to feel the barbell underneath the skin.
