This was my first real piercing. I mean I have my ears done and the top of my left ear is also pierced but I had wanted to get a real piercing for quite some time now. I had the money because I just had an open house so money wasn't an issue. Next thing I needed to do was figure out where I wanted it done. I had heard rave reviews about a place called Artistic Skin Design over on West Washington Street.
At A Glance Author Melissa Contact Melissa@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Bee Jay Studio Artistic Skin Design Location Indiana So I called them up and asked them how much getting a couple different piercings would cost (specifically eyebrow, lip, and tongue). They seemed really nice and very helpful to my needs. I did some more research and their name kept popping up so I decided to go there. So I had the money, and the studio, I just needed to figure out what I wanted and when I could go get it done.
I have a full time job at a Beauty Supply store and I had been discussing for a couple weeks with one of my co workers that I might go get a piercing. She then informed that I might want to ask my boss about the piercing procedure because she didn't want me to get it then have to take it out. So I called him that day and he seemed fine with the idea.
The only thing was I couldn't get my tongue pierced because I wouldn't be able to talk for at least a week and in my line of work I have to be able to talk every day. So that was out, and it kind of bummed out but oh well that can always wait. So I had narrowed it down to either my lip or my eyebrow.
I visit BME often so I was quite knowledgeable as to the risks of the piercings I wanted and so on. So it was Tuesday night and I was looking for directions on MapQuest to the studio, I found them and printed them out. I was planning on going on Thursday because Wednesday I didn't get off work until 5:30 as opposed to Thursday when I got off at 4:30. I just didn't want to hit rush hour traffic going to a place I had no clue where it was at. Plus I get lost very easily; especially when I'm going anywhere near downtown.
So Wednesday rolled around and I was debating whether to go to the studio that day or not. I mean I had the money with me why not go? The only problem was I didn't have the MapQuest directions with me. So I decided to ask my coworkers. Both of them had no clue. I mean we knew I had to take 465 but that was about the extent of our knowledge. Things started slowing down at the store so I asked my manager if he knew. He gave me directions, and then everyone started chiming in on what the quickest way was.
When everyone had left and it was just me and my co worker there we decided the smartest thing to do would be to call the studio (duh, right?) So we call and once again they're overly nice and explain to me the quickest (and easiest) way to get there.
So 5:30 rolled around and I hopped into my car with the directions and off I was. I told my co worker I'd call her when I got lost because I almost undoubtingly would. She obliged and said she'd keep her phone on just in case. So I finally get on 465 and get off on to 70 E and surprise there is no traffic. I was really shocked. The directions the shop gave me were very easy to follow and I got there in 30 minutes, which is about how long it takes any way. I didn't make one U-turn. So I was already feeling like I had accomplished something.
I get to the shop and am greeted by Bee Jay and other people who worked there. They were really laid back and asked me what I wanted done. I said my eyebrow pierced and he went to get the paper work and copy my ID. He told me the price and had me sign the paper work. He made jokes with me when we were going back into the room which calmed me down a bit. I wasn't worried about the pain at all. Unfortunately I've been there some horrendous things in my life so this was nothing. When we got to the back he had me sit down and he explained everything he was doing. He told me what gauge he was using and asked me if that was ok. I said yes. He then marked me and told me to look in the mirror to confirm the location. I did.
He cleaned me off and took the needle out. He told me take a deep breathe and in it went. I didn't even feel anything. He told me to hold still while he screwed it on. I paid him the $40 dollars and off I went. I recommend Artistic Skin Design to anyone. They're great, friendly people and I can't wait to go back to get another piercing!
