I like piercings, my mom doesn't really fancy them.. she let me get my belly button pierced as a reward for passing everything with relatively good grades last year, and then I was hooked. I got my neighbor hooked too, and she got her belly button done and then she went and got her eyebrow done before me! Then she would bug me all the time, saying "When are you getting it done?" and stuff like that. So finally, for my birthday this year, she said I could get it done, but not until she had money. So I waited, and waited..then near the end of January she gave the ok.

Me, my mom, and my neighbor all piled into the car one night and drove out to Abby to the place where I got my bellybutton done and where my neighbor had gotten her tattoo, eyebrow and bellybutton done. (And if you live close to Abbotsford, I highly recommend them, they're awesome!) So I filled out all the forms I had to which asked questions such as have you consumed alcohol in the past 24 hours and what not and got my mom to sign it. We had to wait a couple of minutes so we looked at the tattoo books and different barbells they have in the huge display cases. Then the piercer told us to come on down to the back room.

The room where they do the piercings is very clean, everything is white. It's sort of small but that's ok, you don't need an overly huge room I guess. The lady who does the piercings is really cool, and I'm kind of sad I never learned her name and I probably won't get to for a while since my mom said no more piercings. She's always dying her hair different colors and has really cool piercings, like a surface piercing on her chest, that one's my favorite.

She had me sit down in the dentist-type chair, and I started doing my usual shivery thing where I start shaking, although it wasn't as bad as when I got my bellybutton done. She asked me what kind of jewelery I wanted, I asked if it would be ok to use a barbell of my own that I brought because I really wanted a barbell but she said she wasn't allowed to use barbells that didn't come from the shop and I didn't want to pay extra so I just got the standard captive ring. She told me that was a good choice because it'll heal faster that way.

She got down a tupperware container and pulled out some plastic packages with clamps and so on in them and then another one with the needles in it (all while wearing gloves) and then ripped the packages open. She asked me which eyebrow I wanted it on and I told her the left one. She cleaned the area and then marked me with a blue felt pen and gave me a mirror to check the placement. I said that it was ok and she asked if I was sure, I said yes. She got some new gloves on and then started getting the needle and everything ready. I started taking deep breaths, and my neighbor asked if I wanted her to hold my hand, I laughed and said no, I was good.

The piercer said the bellybutton usually hurts more than the eyebrow, so I felt a little better and was starting to calm down. She said that if I wanted to I should close my eyes since there was about to be a huge needle sticking out of my face. I quickly shut them but made sure that my face didn't do that weird scrunchy thing that faces do when you close your eyes tight. Everyone laughed and I said shut up. The piercer put the clamps on and I was like, whoa get these heavy things off my face! But it wasn't too bad. Then she told me to take a deep breath and exhale. As I took the deep breath, she pushed the needle through, and then I exhaled. I said 'ow' sarcastically as she did it but it didn't hurt a bit! Well.. a little bit but not as much as I thought it would. I really wanted to open my eyes but I thought I might freak if I saw the needle. I heard my mom say 'You're getting too good at this, no more piercings!' The piercer got the ring and put it in the hole, which felt weird. The she cleaned it, and I was dreading this part because when I got my bellybutton done, it hurt SO much, but this time it didn't at all.

The piercer said she was all done and that I could open my eyes now, I did and I looked up and I could see this little tiny silver ball and I was so happy! I looked in the big mirror on the wall and thought it looked so awesome! She asked me if I was happy and I said yes and then my mom said 'Good, because it's too late to change it now.' The piercer gave me a guide to after care, which I already had but this one was newer than the last one I had gotten. She explained everything to me but then said 'Oh, you don't need to know all this, you're a pro now.'

We walked down the hall to the front of the shop and my mom payed while me and Barb, yes that's My Neighbor's name, I thought that I should name her instead of leaving her nameless, looked at tattoos again. Then we went home and my dad said he was going to attach the dog's leash to my face.

I've changed the ring to a barbell now and I think it looks great. Sometimes I still get little crusties around it when I wake up in the morning but other than that it's ok. I stopped cleaning it with the cleaning solution when I changed it to the barbell and because I think it was giving me dry skin and my skin was peeling off and it looked gross, I just clean it with water and a q-tip now. I want to get an industrial piercing, my tongue and some tattoos now, but my mom says no. But I think that if I could talk her into two piercings other than my ears, she's pretty much a pushover now. Haha.
