After trying to pierce my eyebrow myself once before, which ended up rejecting, I decided to go and get it done properly. I had pierced the left side, and the skin around the piercing flaked off and got thinner and thinner. Until one day it completely fell out and left an ugly slit shaped scar. I thought I would get the right side pierced instead.

I had to wait about an hour to get it pierced. After an hour, I walked back into the shop, and told my piercer what I wanted pierced. He asked me if I wanted a hoop or a barbell. I decided to go for a hoop, because I just prefered the way they looked. He asked me to lay down and relax, while he set everything up. Once he had everything ready, he cleaned my eyebrow then marked where the placements were going to be. I took a look in the mirror, just to make sure it looked ok. The told him the placement looked great, so he proceeded to the next step.
He asked me to lay down again and close my eyes. He sprayed on some freeze spray, which didn't actually feel that cold! He didn't clamp my skin, and I asked why. He just said that there was no need to. He asked me to relax and take a deep breath in, then slowly breathe out. I did this about three times, then on the exhale, the needle went through. It felt fine, just like a slight pinch.
He told me it had been pierced, and that all he had to do was follow the jewellery through. The jewellery insertion was slightly more painful than the pierce, but was still ok. I always find the jewellery insertion to be more painful, I don't know why.
The bead was put onto the hoop, and then i took a look at my new piercing. It was red, and looked swollen already. But I thought it looked great. I sat down on the chair for a minute or two, while he went over the aftercare with me. He said to use a 1/4 teaspoon of salt water to 8oz of warm water. And to use a cotton bud to gently remove any crust on the jewellery. To do this twice every day, then once a day as it heals. I was given an aftercare sheet just incase I forgot any information he had told me.
I payed him, thanked him, and then left the studio. It felt great having a hoop in my eyebrow.
A little while later, it stang just a tiny amount. It was still swollen and red, but there was no sign of any bruising. I was a bit worried about rolling over in my sleep and hitting it, but everything was fine. I woke up the next morning, and all the soreness had gone. The swelling had nearly completely gone, and there was just a tiny bit of redness around each hole.
I cleaned it every day, just the way I had been told to. Everything was going really well, apart from that I kept catching the hoop on things and pulling on it, which really hurt. I tried to as careful as I could, but I still kept catching it. About three or four months after getting it pierced, I noticed the amount of skin pierced was reducing. It was starting to grow out, probably from catching the hoop all the time. I tried to take it out one day, when I realised it would keep moving closer to the edge, and leave another ugly scar like my other eyebrow did. But I couldn't get the ball out of the hoop. I tried for about an hour, but didn't have any luck. So I just left it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get to my piercer to get him to take it out for me. It ended up ripping out completely just like the other side. It was quite red at first, but after time the scar faded. It doesn't show very much now, I only notice it because I know it is there.
If you are thinking about getting your eyebrow pierced, then I say go for it! I didn't think it hurt at all. If I had it pierced again, then I would choose a barbell next time. I don't seem to have that much luck with hoops. Look after it very well. Don't fiddle with the jewellery, it will only aggrivate the piercing. Just keep it as clean as possible, and let your body do its healing. I was sad to see my eyebrow piercing go, but I guess my body just didn't want it there.
