Okay, so I had wanted to get my eyebrow pierced for a few YEARS but never could because of employment, etc, etc. So finally, I found myself self-employed (and that's not just a nice term for UN-employed-I am actually self-employed).
At A Glance Author Foomph Contact Foomph@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Lorna Studio Sacred Heart Tattoo and Body Piercing Location Vancouver, B.C, Canada I had just moved to Vancouver, B.C., and my boyfriend, who knew I kind of wanted to get my eyebrow pierced, was at work. So I was taking a walk around the city by myself when I passed Sacred Heart on Davie. I passed by it at first, then did a 180 and went in to inquire about prices. Why not, eh? So I talked to the counter girl and got a list of prices. The only thing that deterred me from getting it then and there was that they only pierce eyebrows with CBRs and not BB because of supposed rejection rates being higher with BBs. Now I don't completely believe that, but what could I do?
So I left and walked home (about a 10 minute walk). So I got home and it was about 4:30pm (this was December 22nd, or 23rd 2003) and I knew they closed at about 6:00pm. I hemmed and hawed about it at home by myself, trying to picture what I would look like with a CBR eyebrow. I had always had my heart set on a BB. I tried to think of something I could use to make it LOOK like I had one just to see what I'd look like with it. Not finding anything, I decided to just GO for it! I'm like that-kind of all or nothing! I figured if I really didn't like it then I'd take it out, right?
By that time it was about 5:15 so I walked back to the place, walked up to the counter girl and declared that "I want to get my eyebrow pierced." I was sure she'd recognize me. She did, but said that unfortunately they were all booked up until close. Damn!!! So then she called the OTHER Sacred Heart on Nelson and Granville (about a 25 minute walk away). She said they had an appointment if I could get there in ten minutes, tops. Argh! I said I could make it, so I left running! Haha! Once I get my mind made up...see it was December 22nd or 23rd and I KNEW I wouldn't be able to get in before they close for the holidays and I didn't want to WAIT! I arrived completely sweaty! They were impressed by how fast I got there!
So I met Lorna-who is AWESOME, by the way! She took me to the room, I chose the smallest diameter CBR (can't remember what it was) and she got ready. Now this is unfortunate: I get SO queasy when it comes to needles (weird, since I like my piercings and tattoos) that I couldn't even look! So she sys to me: "If you're going to pass out before we even do the piercing I don't think we're going to do it." No!! So I just explained that I always get that way...even in Dr's offices. She ran through all the risks, etc regarding the piercing and the aftercare-which was pretty good, although they did say to use epsom salt OR sea salts for soaks but there' no way I would use Epsom salts-just sea salts. Everything else checked out, though. So she marked it but I was so queasy I could barely look at it! I looked quickly at the purple marks and agreed that it was good placement, then asked to lay down pathetic, I know). I have pretty straight eyebrows, so it was a little harder t o place.
Then –the moment I'd been waiting for. I was SO scared about he pain, because let's face it-it's a big chunk of skin to have to go through. So she clamped it (which did not hurt), then she pierced me!!! And it didn't hurt!! Pain is subjective, so what can I say-but seriously it did NOT hurt (a breeze compared to my navel!). I couldn't believe it! So then she cleaned me up and I sat up, and then had to lie down again. Hehe! Finally, she asked me if I wanted to see it and I was like, "Nooo, thank you." She kind of laughed because she said usually people like to see it to reassure themselves that it's not all bloody, etc, etc. Then she gave me a Campino candy to get my blood sugar back up! I hate reacting like this but unfortunately it's like that every time for me.
Finally I was able to stand up at walk out! Then I rushed home (must have been about 5:55ish) because I wanted to be home before my boyfriend got home to show him! Then I realized it was Sunday and my Boyfriend finished work at 5: oopm so he was already home and a little worried...anyway-he really likes it. It's now been 10 weeks and I have a curved BB in it with race car baby blue (my favourite color) 4mm balls on it. Love it! It's so cute! I was TERRIFIED of rejection for about 2 weeks afterwards, but now I'm not so scared. Its healed fine and I never had any pain. No more crusties or lymph, either! Woot! For anyone thinking about doing it-I say go for it. Male or female-they look good! That's my story.
