I remember I had asked my mom if I could get it done ( I could tell she didn't want me too ) but all she had to say was "ask your father." So I called him right away and asked him, of course he said yes. (My dad already has a few of his own piercing done)
So I waited till a few days before my birthday to get it done. One day after school my mom picked me up and brought me down to Zaps. I was kind of nervous because the only other piercing I had were on my ears (which i did all on my own)
When I got down there I told them that i wanted my eyebrow done. They took me into a little room where I sat on this huge chair. The lady cleaned off my eyebrow and put two tiny dots where my jewellery would be. I looked in the mirror and pictured that it was a barbell. I really liked it. So i got back into the chair and she put a clamp on my eyebrow (which ended up to be the most painful part of it all) the needle went through and so did my ring in no time. It didn't hurt one bit.
I only had my eyebrow ring for most of the summer, then all of it got extremely infected. So i went back down to Zaps to see what could be wrong with it. Another lady there pushed and pushed to get all of the puss and infection. But that didn't go over all to well cause' it just exploded. I was told just to keep it out after that. (Now I find out it would have been better off to keep it in)
I still wanted another eyebrow ring, so I waited till it healed and went to Toronto to get it done another time. I felt really good about getting done again. I'm not sure exactly where I got it done but it was really clean. I told the artist hat had happened with my previous eyebrow ring, and he assured me that it would not happen this time. He also told me that Zaps probably just told me to take it out for them to earn some extra money, when I would go and get it done again. He was extremely nice and i felt really comfortable around him. So he got me ready, cleaned my eyebrow etc. He continued to talk and make jokes it was great fun. I think it took me a half an hour to get it done rather than the 5 minutes it would usually take. He took the time to talk to me and make me enjoy getting piercing there. It didn't hurt at all when I got it done the second time; actually it feels really cool having the needle go through your eyebrow (that's just my opinion)
Again my piercing had gotten infected (or at least I thought it did) So I took another visit to Toronto to find out what else I could do for it. I was told it wasn't infected just irritated from being slept on or touched too much. He told me many ways I could get rid of the bump.
It went away but then would just come back, this time I was not taking it out. So again I visited him to ask more questions, because he knew me and I had been there before he gave me a free bottle of stuff that should heal it over pretty good. It worked; sure I occasionally get some crusty.
After that one was healed, a new tattoo parlour opened in Toronto and all piercing were only $30 I couldn't say no to that. So I walked in and got my second eyebrow ring done no problem.
Everyone has there own opinion on piercing and how to treat them. One place gave me one thing the other something else. One liked to pierce with 16 gauges and the other 14.
So now I've got my two eyebrow rings. One 16 gauge and one 14 gauge, which tend to get infected a lot but I will NOT take them out ever again. Not even for a job! If they don't like me just because I have 2 nose rings two eyebrow rings and my tonnes of earrings then too bad for them!!
This weekend I am headed down to Toronto for my first tattoo. I'm not even nervous one little bit. But I still don't know exactly what I am getting so I'm browsing here for some guidance.
I hope that this experience will calm some nerves out there. For anyone who is thinking about going to get an eyebrow ring and has one and doesn't what to do with their infections or bumps.
