I'm 19 years old. I love piercings, granted. I had my tongue and labret done about a yr ago but, I had an abortion and I had to take them out during the procedure. To teach myself a lesson, I kept them out, to remind myself never to be foolish again, if you know what I mean. And, I regret it so much. I've felt so naked without them. So, I was hyped when I decided it was time to get pierced again.

I felt it was a waste of money, being as I did it already. And, those piercings are too common. I never had an interest in eyebrow piercings, but, I wanted something I never considered so I decided it was the best choice. I wanted something different, too. I had originally decided on the double eyebrow piercing. I hadn't seen many of those. Then, I was actually looking on BME and saw the horizontal piercing and was pretty amazed. They looked very awesome and I had never seen anyone with it. So, the actual day that I planned on getting pierced, I changed my mind and was set on a horizontal eyebrow piercing. A horizontal piercing is a piercing that lines up with the floor, or in this case, your eyebrow. Differentiating from the "normal" vertical eyebrow piercing, which is up and down.
I went to Physical Graffiti w/a bunch of my friends. My one friend was getting his cartilage done and my other friend was getting a side lip piercing(which I am thinking about getting next). I was so excited. They took me in first because, I jumped into the place ready to go. I filled out the paperwork, showed my ID, paid, and was called back immediately into a tiny, clean room. I took a seat smiling. My piercer, Tom, was very nice and he approved of my piercing, thinking it was very cool that I would choose such a different piercing. I have heard many, many good things about Tom and I learned, from personal experience, he is very skilled in what he does. And, also an awesome guy. We had some casual conversation as he prepared, putting on his gloves and taking out the materials that were encases in a heavy plastic. I told him exactly what I wanted. He marked where he was going to pierce. He told me to put my head back and close my eyes. I did as told - teeny ti ny pinch! He didn't even use a clamp. He asked me if I was alright, and assured me it was all over. I opened my eyes and was about to lift my head when he told me he hadn't put in the jewelry yet. Oops! I relaxed again as he put in the jewelry, which I hardly felt, and he handed me the mirror. I was impressed! It was perfectly lined up with the angle of my eyebrow. I will totally go back to Tom for my next piercing. It didn't bleed or give me any problems. Which I was very surprised because, a girl before me had gotten a vertical eyebrow piercing and it was bleeding. But, everyone is different, I can not stress that enough. My body just takes very well to piercings. I was given a soap and a tiny container of sea salt, as well as a sheet with directions on how to clean it. Tom told me that if I had any questions or any signs of infections that I should call him, and the number was right on the sheet. I cleaned it religiously. You use the soap 3-4 times a day and the sea salt once in the morning and once at night.
I was afraid of it "growing out", rejecting and such, but it did no such thing. I made sure that I never slept on it and it never gave me any problems. It's been about a month and I totally love it. It's also a very original piercing, which I love as well. I don't know anyone with it. So, I strongly recommend a horizontal eyebrow piercing. It really didn't hurt and it looks beautiful.
I'm not too sure what I plan on getting next. But, I know I want it to be original. No more common piercings for me. If you're afraid or nervous, trust me - the tiny, short amount of pain is well worth the result. And, remember, everyone is different. But, compared to my other piercing experiences, this one was a cinch. And, it's a very good idea if you want to attract attention to your eyes. Right now, I have in the original tiny silver curved barbell that was put in when I got pierced. But, plan on changing it to colored UV balls. Body Mod Rules!
