My second "real" piercing.
At A Glance Author Dr.Urban When Six months ago Artist Don't remember her name... Studio Downtown Location Somewhere in Sweden... A week after I got my nose pierced, I felt the urge of more piercings. Piercing my ears also got addictive, I ended up with twelve holes.
I was thinking about a new one. I was jumping between my eyebrow and my labret. I had been thinking about this for about two years...
Then I saw Amy Lee's (the singer of Evanescence) eyebrow piercing, and decided I wanted one! A spiked barbell.
I was doing some research in piercing studios, and about aftercare. My friend got her navel pierced at this place quite close to where I live, so I decided to check it out. First, I asked my mom. She was totally cool with it. She actually suggested that she also should get one. We planned on getting them done together. Well, duh. Anyway, my mom called this place and asked what it cost, if it hurt, and all sorts of things. My mom said that the one she talked to sounded really nice, and calmed her down on the pain-thingy. Mom was kind of freaked out there, but I wasn't. She told me that we were going that friday. I think it was a wednesday. I was really happy. I almost couldn't believe it...
Well, the days did of course go SLOWLY. The waiting was driving me mad! But finally, friday arrived. There was something that wasn't going according to plans though, my mom wasn't getting one. She said it would be too risky, since she has ear piercing that she does NOT take care of. But I was still going for it. I had the friday of from school, and we left sometime around eleven. When we first arrived, we ate. I read somewhere that you should do that. And I wanted everything to go smoothly. After a bit of walking around (we didn't exactly know where it was) we found it. The place was quite small. We went inside and my mom said that she had called about an eyebrow piercing. The woman who worked there was really nice, introduced herself, gave us all the necessary information, and had us fill out some paper. While we were filling these out, I saw that they had the exact barbell that I wanted. A dark blue spiked barbell. But that dream was crushed. She said that they only did t he piercing with ball closure rings, because it was easier to clean that way, and safer. I have to admit, I was a bit disappointed, but I still wanted one. I chose the smaller ring.
She took us to the "piercing room", and I sat down. The place looked very clean and everything seemed to be in order. She asked me if I had any questions before we started. I asked if they had anything numbing. She laughed and said that they didn't have anything, that worked. Then she calmed me down, saying that it would be over in two seconds. It helped a bit, but I was still very nervous. First, she got the equipment out. She put on gloves and cleaned my eyebrow. Then she marked my eyebrow. I thought it looked perfect. She changed her gloves, and put the clamp on. I couldn't feel this. Then she took the needle up. She distracted me by asking me my name. I actually helped. I didn't hurt. It just felt like she pinched my eyebrow. After I answered her she said that she only needed to put the ball in. I was done. I got up, and looked in the mirror. It felt REALLY weird. It was like my entire face was changed. (At first, I actually didn't like it.) Almost in a trance, we payed and left. But we of course got the after care instructions first. And we also got the antiseptic aftercare solution.
After five weeks it was time to re-visit. I thought the healing was on a good way. It didn't hurt no more, and it looked really good. I went with my friend who got her navel pierced there, since she only got it a day or two before me. Unfortunately, the piercer wasn't there. But a tattoo artist looked at mine, and said it looked just fine. But then, I got disappointed again. I had to wait SEVEN weeks until I could change my jewelry. I was quite pissed. But I still bought the dark blue spiked barbell.
Seven weeks passed. But I didn't have the guts to change the jewelry myself. So I decided to go down to the studio, and get some help. Well, I got pissed again. I did NOT want to go by myself. And my friends couldn't go for another TWO weeks. Dammit! Well, I had to hang it.
Two weeks later, I went down there. The one who pierced me helped me change to my barbell, and I LOVED it. I still have it in. And it's not causing any problems.
So, if you want it, get it! I bet you wont regret it... oh, it rhymed. Anyway, take care of your piercings, and always get it professionally done!
