I've been pierced many times. I first became addicted to being pierced when I had my belly button done (illegally, mind you) in Myrtle Beach, SC, at the tender age of 16. Then came the nostril, then came the tongue, and now... *dum dum dum* THE EYEBROW!

For my final piercing, I decided to try the eyebrow. I had taken out my nostril and tongue piercings, and even though I still had my belly button piercing, I was really aching for something facial. I surfed the web about eyebrow piercing safety (ALWAYS DO YOUR RESEARCH) and was pleased to find that the procedure is very safe, and as long as you take good care of it, your risk for infection is low. I was a little worried about the migration factor, but since I had no problems with other piercings, I'm assuming I'll be okay in that category.

-------------------------------

I went with my friend Ashley to the studio, where I'd been pierced before (TEE ROCKS!) and we filled out forms, showed ID's, and were on our way. Ash got her tongue done first and then it was my turn. I walked into the room (which was very clean, professional, and comfortable) and sat down in the chair. I saw "the tray" which consisted of the needle, the barbell (I opted for a barbell piercing for a lesser chance of migration), and a few cleaning agents. Even though I'd been pierced before, my heart was racing. I was SO excited! Piercings are so liberating for me! I gripped the chair in anticipation and nervousness. Tee asked me if I was ready and I nodded. She explained the procedure, risks, and aftercare instructions while she cleaned and marked the spot. She showed me in the mirror and I could imagine the barbell fitting nicely into the two purple dots. "Is this what you want it to look like?" she asked. "YES!" I said, and then it was time...

She lined the needle up, angling it slightly (never let your piercer pierce you straight up and down, an eyebrow piercing should ALWAYS be somewhat angled). She touched the needle to my skin, told me to shut my eyes and keep them closed, and asked if I was ready once again. "I ammm readyyyy!" I said, smiling and giggling. She pushed the needle through (slowly at first to keep it aligned) while I kind of squinted a little, and that was that! As for the pain level, it was worse than my tongue and belly button, but less than my nostril. I smiled, feeling the needle in my skin. It was over. I was pierced once again! She slipped the barbell in with ease, and I didn't even bleed! AWESOME! She told me how to care for it once again, and then told me to pay. It was $45 dollars. Ashley helped me pay for it as a late birthday present. We were two newly pierced girls, and we felt terrific! We ran out to my car totally excited and totally thrilled. Then we took nerdy pictures of ourselve s ;)... you gotta take the nerdy piercing pics.

------------------------------

Afterwards, I had a bit of a headache for about 2 hours. Other than that, it's been a week and I have *no* complaints. I had no bruising, no pussing, no bumps, and just a SMALL amount of bleeding. I have been cleaning the wound with the same stuff that gave me to clean my earlobe piercings from Walmart, twice a day (or more if I accidentally touch it). I always clean it with salt water every other day. I do not touch or play with it (on purpose), and I plan on keeping it in for another 3 weeks before changing the jewelry (even though my boyfriend recently bought me some cute, new jewelry). I also sleep on the opposite side, but if you can't help but sleep on the side you're pierced on, it's a good idea to bandaid your jewelry down at night.

It's GREAT! I would *totally* recommend an eyebrow piercing, if you're a responsible piercee. Don't be stupid! Follow directions, don't play with it, and don't take it out too soon. You'll be FINE and you'll be proud of yourself for going through it. The 15 seconds of pain is worth the 15 years (or more) of looking cute as heck, yeah? AWESOME!

I wrote this for all of the people out there who are hesitant about piercings for health reasons. It's important to be a responsible person and listen to your piercer. They ((usually)) know what they're doing. For questions or to find out more about me, you can visit my website @ scribblehoney.com or email me @ ka1en@yahoo.com. I'm totally open to talking about body mods (I also have a tatt) so hit me up!
