It was a couple weeks before Christmas and I told my dad I wanted another piercing. He said NO, but I knew I could convince him to let me get it done if I really wanted to. So, first I tried to think of what piercing I wanted. I have a bunch on my ears, my belly button and my nose so I was thinking tongue, labret or eyebrow next. I of course came to here, to BME, to read up on piercing experiences and read about the risks of piercing and what-not. I showed my dad some of the pictures of piercings gone wrong (like bad scarring and stuff). He nearly screamed and said, "Why would you want to do that?!?" I just told him that I'd take really good care of my piercing and that would never happen.

A couple days later, my dad's friend was over and told him that her daughter has a tongue piercing and it wasn't as dangerous as my dad thought. Her daughter, Ashlee, did chip her tooth once but she switched to a plastic barbell and didn't have any more problems. So, then my dad decided tongue piercing were okay as long as I switched to a plastic or acrylic barbell ASAP, but then I decided I didn't want a tongue piercing. I just got my braces off after about 3 ½ years and didn't want to take any chance screwing up my teeth. Then, I realized labret probably wouldn't be great to my teeth and gums either so I decided on getting an eyebrow piercing.

It took some major convincing for my dad because he doesn't really like any type of piercing, but I asked him if he had any other legitimate reason for me to not get an eyebrow piercing, beside the fact that he didn't like them. He said, "No...Okay, you can get your eyebrow pierced." YAY! So, I planned to wait until after Christmas to get one because I'd have some money then. The weekend after Christmas, I went with my dad to Mayhem Ink in Nashua, NH (where I got my nose pierced) to get my eyebrow pierced. But I forgot some form of ID. Oops. (It kind of made me mad because when I got my nose pierced, I forgot an ID too and they, even though they shouldn't have, pierced me anyway.) So, I decided I'd come back later that day on the way to go to the movies with my friends.

In the car, on the way to the movies, I told my dad I'd brought 2 IDs just in case and he said we weren't going to get my eyebrow pierced because we didn't have time. Grr... I was mad. Luckily, when we got to the theater, the movie was sold out and we had to go to a much later showing at another theater so I had time to go get my piercing.

We got to the piercing place and a lady outside asked if I was coming in to get a piercing and I told her I was and she said she was the piercer and would be back inside in a minute. I walked in with my friends and they started checking out all the tattoos. I had my dad fill out all the paperwork and it seemed like I was ready to be pierced in a second. I got really freaked out because my last piercing, my nose, was really painful. My piercer, Jennifer, asked if wanted a ring or barbell and on the left or right. I told barbell on the right eyebrow. I sat down in a chair, she explained how everything was sterilized and stuff. I was REALLY freaked out at that point but didn't say anything. She wiped a cotton ball with something across my eyebrow and drew two dots on my eyebrow. She asked if I like the location and I asked if it could point more inwards. She changed the dots and I approved. She clamped my eyebrow (much less painful as when the clamped my nose) and she poked the needle through. I was so freaked out but it really didn't hurt that much. And I'm a wimp; I nearly cried my eyes out when I got my nose done. But it was a quick pinch and it was done. She told me to keep my eyes closed until she got the barbell in. She explained all the aftercare to me and she explained to my dad that it was normal for the area of the eye near the piercing to bruise. I thanked her, paid her, and went on my way.

I went to the movies and my new piercing didn't bother me at all. There was a little bit of crusty blood but I waited until I got home to clean it off. I looked at in the mirror and I suddenly realized how large the balls on the barbell were. Much bigger than I expected but whatever, I love the piercing.

When I got back to school, I saw my friend's new eyebrow piercing and her barbell was MUCH smaller, the balls and the overall length of the barbell. She said she wanted a bigger barbell like mine. Oh well. So many people have their eyebrow pierced at my school, so it wasn't really a big shock to everyone like my nose was but I still love it.

It's been about three weeks since I got my eyebrow pierced and I love it! I'm already thinking of what I'm going to get for my next piercing. : )
