I suppose every story here on BME starts with some sort of history before it launches into the piercing experience so here is mine. I've wanted a piercing for years. I think ever since I was around 13. A friend of mine's cousin got her tongue pierced and I just thought it was the coolest thing in the world! I had to have one. Not specifically a tongue ring, but a piercing.

It was only after much searching that I found the Holy Grail of Bod-Mod sites...BME! It opened me up to piercings, tattoos, and body modifications of all time.
Two years later I finally cracked my parents into letting me get my tongue pierced. viola! My obsession with piercings began. Seven months later I found myself in Body Modifications deciding on what to get pierced next.
I had to have it. An eye-brow ring. It just the coolest thing and it makes you look like such a bad ass when you have it pierced. There's just something about a 16 gauge curved barbell through your eye brow that is just awesome. After convincing my mum to let me get it done (she wanted me to get an industrial) the piercing process began.
We had to show my birth certificate, my mums drivers license, and a picture of me in my recent yearbook. I also had to fill out a quick questionnaire which contained questions such as; Have you had anything to eat in the last 4 hours? Do you have a history of fainting? Are you currently pregnant? After checking no to all of the questions (I hadn't in fact eaten in the past four hours) I walked into the back room with my mum, my best friend, and her mum.
The room was so cool looking. There was statues of Buddha and pictures of Buddha covering the place. It was very nirvanic. A kind-of doctor table was placed in the center of the room. After reading numerous stories on BME I was expecting a dentist's chair.
My friend, Amanda, was getting her tragus pierced and decided to go first. I was getting very nervous at this point and felt as if I was going to pass out. I watched Amanda get pierced. That needle went through her tragus like butter. I swear it looked like it did. Her mum looked as if she was going to faint and couldn't watch her daughter be pocked and prodded with needles and strange piercing devices.
Anywho, it was my turn next. I sat on top of the dentist's table. He wanted me to lay down but I wanted to sit. So I sat. The tray to my left had all the piercing things laid on top of it. I was marked with that purplish-blue liquid and was asked to see if it was wear I wanted it. It was so he proceeded. I could feel the needle touching the top of my brow and waited for the first poke. The pain was nothing. It honestly did not hurt. It was the weirdest feeling in the world though. All I felt was pressure. Plus, I could feel the needle while it traveled through my brow. A few moment later I was done.
Amanda's mum took pictures of the two of us and we left. Body Modifications gave me a bottle of Provon soap and a baggie of sea-salt. I was instructed to clean my piercing once day (in the evening) when I took my daily shower. A few days ago I was cleaning my piercing and the damn bottom ball popped off! How could I of been so stupid! IT just went down the drain. I had to hold the ring to keep it from falling out. There was soap all over my forehead. Luckily, my friend had a spare 16 gauge clear internally threaded ball. After a few hard moments I finally succeeded in getting the ball screwed on. Now I have a 3mm silver ball on top and a 4mm clear acrylic ball on the bottom. I'll change it when it heals.
Now every time I clean my piercing I make sure the ball's are securely fastened before I began my cleaning ritual. I also stop the sink drain so I can catch a falling ball.
It's been almost a week (I said that before didn't I) and my eyebrow is healing up great. It's just slightly itchy but I can't say it has ever hurt. People all want to know if it hurt and I tell them no, not at all. They don't seem to believe me. Oh well...
I highly recommend you don't pierce yourself at home. I know from personal experience that this causes many problems. Not only cosmetic problems but problems with your parents.
Happy Bod-Mods! :)
