It took me a while to finally get my brow done, just because I had to get all of my persuasive skills together to convince my mom, and I wouldn't even try asking my dad, he's one of those... Anyway, I came to the conclusion that out of all the piercings I wanted the eyebrow (mainly the right side) pierced because I might have a problem speaking with my tongue or lip, so no tongue or lip piercings. I didn't want to risk a problem with my speech because I take an advanced French class, and the major part of the grade is verbal. I cant take chances with that, being my favorite subject and all. I ruled out the nose piercing because its just not my style, and my nose I kinda small, so I wouldn't want to make it looked any more messed up. So the eyebrow it was. Now, I'm not one of those people to do something without previous knowledge, so I researched everything I could find on piercings. I had always heard storied, about how the side of your face can paralyze, and about AIDS and HIV and all that stuff from needles, but as long as an experienced an licenced artist is around, all is good.

1. So, I learned the procedure, the aftercare, jewelry, blah blah blah. When that was over with, I decided to ask mom, and what else would she say other than no. It sucked for a while, I was always complaining and being an ass, and I guess eventually during the late summer of freshman year she let me get it done, but that was only because of my excellent grades Freshman year.

When I went to the studio, I was immediately happy to find that it was an extremely sanitary place. Tattooing was done downstairs, and the piercing were upstairs. As I traveled up the stairs, I found an awesome round room full of glass shelves of jewelry. I was taken into the other room, where I signed all the papers and stuff. at the time, I only feared feeling imitated by my artist, thinking he would be some older ass who must be thinking "oh god, not another kid." But, I meet Jeff, and he was the total opposite. He first sat me down, telling me that he did have morals, and that he wouldn't go do some 15 year old unless he was positive I was mature enough to handle it. He went through the procedure with, as well as the aftercare. He basically quizzed me, and decided I could handle it. I payed him (I think it was like 50) and he sat me on the chair.

He told me exactly what he was doing, and I followed the directions, and all went well. He held the Kelly clamp on my right brow, and made the mark. I overlooked the location, and was satisfied. The nervousness seeped in, but I slowly got rid of it, telling myself that pain is beauty, and all that. He took the needle (out of a sterile pack) and aligned it. Then he pierced me. I felt a little pain, but definitely not the worst I ever had. (I just got done with mono) He applied a sterling silver hoop, and placed the ball in. It was a great experience, and now im the owner of a couple of tattoo's and piercings. All a good experience.

When I got home, lets just say my dad was more than pissed. He was also kinda annoyed at my mom, being I did this without his permission. He got over it though, although he still has not acknowledged it to this day. When it was time to clean it, more than a little discharge came out. It bleed for a second, but continued to release pus constantly. I took care of it constantly, always making sure to use dial soap, and now play with it. It was inflamed for about two days, and than the swelling went down. It took about a month to properly heal and then I waited for about 2 more to change the jewelry. During that time I did some things to annoy and irritate it, like go to a show, and get hit in the face, or I would find myself subconsciously toying with it in class. I reprimanded it every time, reminding myself of what the infection could do to me. When I did take the jewelry out, I still remember how smooth that part of my eyebrow was when I took the ring out. I exchanged it for a small spiked blue barbell, which cost me about 15 at Spencers. Today my piercing is doing ok, although it does get irritated when I have to remove it and put it back in for my new job. All in all, I recommend getting one, and if you like in morris county, go to Tattoo Factory on Rt. 46, Jeff is amazing!
