I've been coming to this web site for a little over a year now. I love it, it's so interesting all the different body mods, and I've been in love with body piercing since I was a little kid. I started picturing myself with an eyebrow ring when I was in fifth Grade. I just loved the way it looked, and the different variations for each different personality type.
Well I have had my eyebrow pierced for about a year now, but for about the past month or two, it has slowly been migrating. For those of you don't know, that is when the entrance and exit holes grow closer together, eventually pushing the jewelry out of your body, also known as rejecting. I couldn't bare to lose my eyebrow ring that I had to BEG my parents to let me get. My parents told me when I got it done a year ago that if anything went wrong with it, they weren't going to take me to get it re-done. So I decided to take matters into my own hands...
For about three months, I've had a 12 ga piercing needle that I bought from my friend's father (who is a professional piercer) I've used the needle many times on myself and on other people. I've pierced both nipples, nine holes in each ear, my tongue web, my belly button, most of which I have retired by now, and a variation of other things on my friends. I know the needle is a little large for piercing certain areas, but when its all you got, then I guess you just make due. I've used a saftey pin before and that wasn't pleasant AT ALL, because when you take the pin out, you have to get the jewelry in there ASAP, which is painful as hell. So I prefer the actual piercing needle, even though large, it is hollow, so you can slip the jewelry in it that you want to use, and when you pull the needle out, the jewelry is already in there, and all you have to do is screw the ball on or put the back on.
So when my boyfriend came over, I took the needle out of the peroxide that it was soaking in, and proceeded to make a new eyebrow hole on the right side of where my original one was. Once that was through and the 16ga. barbell was in, it bled ALOT because the needle was so much bigger than the jewelry. Then I looked at that awhile, and decided that I wanted to put another one on the other side of that one so I took the needle and made another hole on the left side of my original hole. My original hole is a little red, but not painful, its just a little ditch where the needle slid though a year ago. This was two days ago, and I have not been having a problem with it, it's not even sore, but I am making sure that I don't play with it, and I am doing the salt water soak, and cleaning it with salt water and a Q-tip like I should to remove the little crusties, but to my suprise, there hasn't been that many of them yet, I don't guess its gotten to that stage yet. There is a li ttle blue bruise on the right side of my second hole. But I don't think it'll be there very long.
Everyone always asks what it feels like to get your eyebrow pierced. It's strange, and I can't really describe it. I like the feeling. It's a strange sensation, a painful, yet strange sensation.
Now I have two barbells up there, one with silver balls and one with blue balls, but I switched the balls around to make it look like the piercings were crossing like an X instead of up and down. It looks pretty cool.
As for my parents, well they have told me to quit punching holes in myself because it is mutulating my body, and I got in a little trouble after doing that, because they have asked me to stop so many times. I'm not grounded, and well they just told me to stop again.. But my dad looked pretty serious this time lol...
In conclusion, I DO NOT recommend piercing yourself, you should always go somewhere professional that looks clean to get it done, but if you are going to do it yourself *like i prefer to do*, then please just make sure everything is sterile, because an infection is a nasty thing to get, and you shouldn't have to go though all that pain, just to have to take it out, and take antibiotics. When I first started piercing myself, that is what happened to me, I had to go to the emergancy room twice when my Tragus and my anti-tragus got infected, I had to get three shots in the ear, and the doctor had to CUT the jewelry out, which isn't pleasant, even though they deaden it, it hurts a hell of alot more than getting the piercing done. So please, Just be careful!
