I don't know how long I have wanted to have a facial piercing done but I know that it has been longer than 6 years. I remember wanting to get my tongue pierced in the sixth grade. I kept myself satisfied by stretching my ears but alas, 'twas not enough. Then last year I stumbled across two reasons not to get it pierced. 1. My friend had it done, and 2. My tongue is too short. So, I decided I wanted my nostril pierced but when I went back to school for my senior year A LOT of girls had their nostrils pierced. (If you haven't yet figured it out, I don't like being like everyone else). Before my 17th birthday I asked my dad if he would let me get my eyebrow pierced. He said yes.. Then I asked if I could get my lip pierced too and he said that I could not get my nose or mouth pierced until I was 18 because he thinks it's "stupid" to do so. So I decided to get my eyebrow double pierced.
Over a month after my birthday, on December 17, 2003, my dad and I went into Ink Stain Tattoo to get my eyebrow double pierced. I decided to go there because it was the most sterilized looking tattoo and body piercing place in town and because three people recommended it to me. When I got there someone in there buying jewelry and asking if they could do something with the tattoo on his back to "jazz it up" I could hear that someone was getting a tattoo done and that my favorite Guns 'n Roses song was playing on the radio, which was great. I looked at the samples of tattoos on the wall (most of them seemed to be of nude women) and somehow managed to make myself forget that I was about to have two needles shoved through my eyebrow. Then that guy left and Mike asked my "What can I do for you?" I told him and he said "Two on the same eyebrow?" He had a horizontal eyebrow piercing.. My dad and I had our Drivers Licenses photocopied and then we had to sign some forms and then I pa id him $50. He put all of his supplies into a tray by the chair and told me to sit down and to relax. I think he thought I was scared, but I wasn't, I was excited. My dad brought my sisters digital camera with us so he could take pictures.I told him not to blind the guy with the flash. He cleaned off my eyebrow and then marked four dots on my eyebrow. He asked me if the placement was okay, and it was perfect. Then, he told me to close my eyes and not to open them until he said to do so. He put the first needle through and I didn't feel a thing.. My dad was a bit disappointed that I didn't make a face when he took the picture..I'm not sure what happened next because my eyes were closed.. Then, he put the second one it... It didn't exactly hurt but it felt like I was plucking my eyebrow. Then, he told me to open my eyes and look in the mirror. I loved it. He gave me an aftercare sheet and some additional instructions and I thanked him. My dad and I went to Rite Aid an d got all of the things I needed to keep it infection free. About an hour later the inner piercing started bleeding but it was nothing serious. I cleaned it with bactine and it stopped shortly after. That night was a bit uncomfortable because I sleep most comfortably on my stomach with the left side of my face on my pillow so I had to make some sacrifices. I woke up a bit stiff but it was nothing too painful. I cleaned my piercing and put a fun band aid over it because piercings are only allowed in the ears at my school and then fixed my hair so no one could see the band aid, especially my band teacher who I'm sure would freak out if he saw it.. I'll show him eventually.. like after I graduate.. My friends all thought it was "soo cool" when I showed it to them the next day during brunch at school.. My sister thought it was "so disgusting".. but who cares what she thinks?
Although it has been an unusual experience I can say it has definitely been worth it and if you want to get GO FOR IT!.. but ask your parents first if you're underage..
