These were my first real piercings, I already had my ears done 2 years before, but that was at Wal-Mart with a gun so I knew this was different. The first major step was talking my dad into letting me get my eyebrow pierced, my mom was okay but my dad thought it may give off the wrong image as I am a Christian. Finally my mom talked him into it.

I first thought about getting one, I really wanted two but I thought that would cost too much, but thank God, there was a price break, Angela, my piercer, even gave me five bucks off because she didn't want to make change :). I realized that this would be one of those things that I would never find the right time to do, so I just made myself do it as soon as possible. The day after my dad got back in town, I asked him to take me to 7th Street after school; he did. We got there, he mentioned that it was much cleaner than he thought it would be. We filled out the release forms and all of that then she put me in the chair.

Now I'll get to the part that I know 99.9% of you are reading this for. I was really nervous, I was afraid that it would be unbearable pain, I acted cool outside but I was really screaming. Someone I know from school told me it wouldn't hurt at all, but this was a guy who pierced his own nipples with safety pins. In any case, no matter what you hear you are nervous your first time. She marked me, cleaned me, clamped me; then I saw the needle, it was much bigger than I thought it would be, at that moment my heart sank. I waited a good thirty seconds before I asked her when she was going to do it. I was relieved to hear that she already had, not only did it not hurt, I didn't feel it whatsoever. Putting the jewelry in didn't hurt at all either, despite what some say. I would recommend anyone to getting an eyebrow piercing or more.

The worst part of it is the swelling and the occasional infection, even that is, at most, just annoying. All you have to do is wash it with dial in the shower and put Neosporin on it whenever it is infected. All of my friends loved it, living in Arkansas you don't see a whole lot of piercing. If there is anything I can recommend not doing, it's trying to gauge it. I wasn't really even trying to do that, I just have these 14 gauge curved barbells that I thought would look good in my eyebrow, before I only had 16 gauges in my eyebrow, I didn't think it was a big enough difference to have any effect. That was a big mistake. I switched them out without too much trouble, I was worried because I've heard stories about eyebrows closing up just seconds after removing the jewelry, not the case. At first it didn't hurt, but it started feeling sore by the morning. It kept getting worse throughout the day. Finally, in Biology, I couldn't take it anymore, I had to borrow a girls compact so I could put my 16s back in. That was just this morning and it's still not feeling better, I just hope it won't take as long to heal this time as it did when I got it pierced.

Over all, I'm very glad I did it, I would recommend this to anyone, my dad was afraid that it would look tacky, but afterwards, he mentioned that he actually liked it. The only words of advise I can give everyone is, don't cheap out on the piercer, definitely don't do it yourself, and don't try to gauge anything but your ears.

My next piercings are going to be each of my ears two more times and a centered labret. I'm trying to talk my parents into letting me do my ears myself, I really don't want to pay someone for something I can easily do myself. My mom is fine with the labret, but my dad still doesn't want to let me. My last hope is to wait until I'm eighteen if my dad won't cave, by that point I also want a tongue ring; I'm not even going to try to ask my parents for that, my mom will say that I won't be able to talk, this is a myth for those who don't know, the swelling will go down after about a day and you can speak fine. The guy I mentioned earlier, that pierced his nipples, just got a one inch barbell through his tongue and it doesn't affect his speech what so ever. Anyway, once I get those done, I'll post up more experiences. Back to the point, there is no downside whatsoever to an eyebrow ring. DON'T GAUGE!!!
