Getting my eyebrow pierced was not the hard part. Actually, I almost passed out getting my eyebrow pierced. It was, in fact, my first body piercing. Before Daniel did it, I had butterflies in my stomach and all other things. I'm not a huge fan of needles either. I was awaiting major pain to come. Yet, before I knew anything was going on, I said "now what?" and he said, "you're done." It's really not as bad as you would think it would be.
The hard part:
The really hard part, I found out, was convincing my parents. I had wanted a piercing since I was 12 or 13, and had been begging my parents since I discovered them. I just thought they were neat looking, I didn't realize at the time how addicting they would end up being for me. Since I was only 14 at the time, they did not think I was old enough for getting piercings. They were also scared that I would get some kind of crazy infection in my body because they thought I would not take care of it (silly parents). It took years of begging, and one day they (my dad) finally gave in (my mom was actually OK with it. It was one of those "ask your father" situations). We settled on making a 'contract' stating that I could get no more piercings or tattoos (I don't even have any) until I was 18, or even ask (we see how long that lasted, I got my lip pierced the next year and getting a tattoo soon, I'll probably write about it :P).
After it was all nicely healed:
One day, I was letting my dogs in. My cat, Keykey, ran out the door. She is an indoor cat, and we live in a small neighborhood, with a lot of crazy driving people. So, I ran to catch her, and I somehow end up hitting my head on the handrail outside the door. Ouchies. I didn't see that coming. It did not, in fact, feel good, either, and I had no clue that there was blood running down my face. I was in tears before I had even came back through the door. After clearing my eyes and looking in the mirror I discovered that I had actually knocked the top ball into the top hole, and the bottom hole had also ripped. My eyebrow was already sore because I had just recently stretched it to a 14G. It eventually healed in a few weeks with the help of sea salts and soap I had used when I had originally got the piercing.
Infected Hair Follicle (eww):
Afterwards I somehow had gotten an infected hair follicle, right above my piercing. This thing would not go away. I figured it was just a huge pimple, and it popped several times. At one point I didn't even have to pop it. I could just push on it and the puss would come out of the bottom hole in my eyebrow ring. Nasty, I know. After several weeks of it not going away after being popped, mom thought it was a keloid. So, back to Skin Thrills we went. Goldie (an employee there) also thought it could possibly be one. When we got home we looked up pictures of keloids on the internet and decided that was not the case here. Eventually one day I was fed up with the pain and attempted killing it with a safety pen. That did not work either, so my mom popped it. It was insane. (This is really gross, I am aware.)
The results:
I have a nice little scar from my kitten chase, but otherwise it's fine. I also got my lip pierced, and luckily had no problems with it. My mom kept telling me to just give up on the eyebrow, but patience and me loving my piercing has made it worthwhile.(Also, it would be a waste of money just to take it out!) I think in the end I will have many more piercings. It's really exciting and seems addicting for me. Now that it's all done and over with I realize how big of a rush it was to be in that situation. I'm also in the works of begging for a madison :), and I hope for many more to come.
