Hey All!

I just got my eyebrow pierced this morning, and let me tell you, I am so happy with it! Here's my story...

I've been wanting to get my eyebrow pierced for a while now, 2 years maybe, and I asked my very conservative parents (expecting a no), but they actually said yes. This was 2 years ago. So they said yes, and I was thrilled! But I should have known they weren't serious. They figured that if they said yes, then never took me, I would eventually forget about the fact I wanted an eyebrow piercing. Well, that never happened, because I wanted it so badly. I kept pestering them for two years, and they kept saying they would, but they never actually let me. Recently, I decided that I wasn't going to let them put it off forever, they said I could get it done, and I was going to hold them to that. My parents and I have always gotten along very well, and don't usually fight. But I came down hard, telling them I was 16 now, and that I could get it if I wanted to. They finally gave in, much to my surprise, and booked me an appointment at Tora Tattoo. I've had friends get pierced there, an d I've heard nothing but good stuff about it. I checked out their website, and it looked like a really clean, awesome place.

The time finally came, and I was so scared, but at the same time nervous. This was my first piercing, and I wasn't sure what to expect. I spent the whole morning reading the stories on this site. I was so psyched. My parents drove me down around lunch time, and we went in. My heart was beating really fast, as well as my parents. They still weren't too thrilled about it, but they were still going to let me get it done, because they knew how badly I wanted it.

We went in and filled out the forms, then Shelley, the piercer took me back. I sat in a chair much like a dentist chair. My annoying mother insisted she come back too, which I didn't mind too much, because I kind of wanted somebody there with me, cause I was a little scared. But the excitment was balancing out the fear. My mom asked about a zillion questions, but Shelley was really nice, and answered everything. Then at last the moment arrived. She put on gloves and took everything out of new packages. She rubbed alcohol on my left eyebrow and marked a spot with a marker. I looked in a mirror and told her that it was in the right spot. She then asked me to close my eyes and she put on the clamp. Let me tell you, I am the biggest wimp in the world, I have no pain tolerance what-so-ever, and the clamp didn't even hurt me. Don't worry about it, it just feels like somebody holding onto your eyebrow, it's not as bad as it seems. Next I was told to breathe in and out, and I did th ree or four times and nothing happened. I wasn't sure if it was already pierced or not, maybe it had already happened and I just didn't feel it. But all of a sudden I felt the needle pierce my skin, and the pain, while intense, lasted only about 3 seconds. After that, the pain was gone, and I felt her slide the barbell in. I didn't bleed at all, and my eyebrow was now gently pulsating, but it barely hurt. I was so surprised. I looked in the mirror, and loved what I saw. All of my friends who have seen it love it too. My parents aren't too happy, but it's too late for them to change their minds.

So my advice is, to anybody who's parents don't want them to get a piercing, just talk to them and try to make them understand that it's your body, and you can do what you want. WARNING: This does not mean you should go out and get it done without your parents being ok with it, talk it through with them, and come to a consensus. Also let them know that so many people these days have piercings, and it isn't a bad thing like they think it is. Like in my case, convincing your parents may be very hard, but in the end it is so worth it. I am so happy with my piercing, and I'm sure it will grow on my parents. It just took a little convincing!

Oh and also, one more thing...I wear glasses, so all you people who are afraid that glasses and an eyebrow piercing don't mix (I was afraid too!), don't worry, my glasses don't even touch the piercing, they don't interfere at all!

Good luck to everybody who is considering getting a piercing done!!!
