So begins my eyebrow piercing. My friend, Angel, is an apprentice at the shop I always go to and she needed some experience, so I offered my face for her to pierce. After trying to plot out some ear projects, we decided that it probably wouldn't work, and I decided to get my eyebrow done. Another customer came in while we had been marking my ear, and since it was taking quite a while, I offered to wait while Jenny (the piercer at the shop) changed out the other lady's jewelry. A few minutes later I was back again, deciding to forget about the ear and perhaps do my eyebrow. I was pretty indecisive; I really hadn't planned on doing it.

I finally decided to just go thru with it, if I didn't like it I could always take it out, and it was only going to cost $15. Since we're friends and she needs experience, it was only going to be the price of jewelry at cost. So Angel started setting up and marking my eyebrow. She marked it once and I asked her to move it further out, and then things looked good. The whole time Jenny was helping out making sure Angel wouldn't poke my eye out, and Angel was asking her a lot of questions as well. Once we all were pleased with the marks, she put the clamps on. They did not hurt at all, and were only slightly uncomfortable. It took a bit for them to get everything lined up, but I'd rather sit with a clamp on my eye for a while than rush thru things.

Angel then used the flat end of the needle to test things out to make sure things were set to go and lined up properly. She asked me to close my eyes while she did this, which I just did not like at all. I knew she wasn't going to pierce me yet, but it just made me uncomfortable. I suppose this was so the needle wouldn't stick me in my eye. After checking and double-checking things Angel said "Are you ready?" I said "Yes, are you ready?" To which she replied, "I think so." Well, time to on with things then. Her response made me pretty nervous, but I still completely trusted her with my eye. Besides, Jenny was watching over things to make sure they went well. We both took a deep breath and she started to pierce. It was very slow and I could feel my skin stretching up as she pushed the needle thru, I was wondering when it was going to be over. Finally I felt and heard the needle pop thru, which was weird. Every other piercing has been nice and smooth, no popping. I suppose that's the way things are though when someone is just learning.

She slowly took the clamps off and readied the jewelry for insertion, which was a 14g curved barbell. She was still asking Jenny a bunch of questions. This also went slower than normal, but not bad or painful. It was a weird situation with Angel putting in the jewelry and Jenny in the background, somewhat, cheering her on. After everything was done I took a look at it, and honestly, I didn't fall in love with it instantly. Angel had done a great job, I just wasn't sure if I liked it on my face. I like it a bit more everyday though.

Being pierced by an apprentice was a whole different experience that I'm used to. I was much more comfortable with her being a friend though. I was glad that I had a new experience, and she got some experience too. This experience may sound like it was a bad one, but I went back later the same day to have her pierce my nostril. So things were good.

For aftercare Jenny gave me some H2Ocean, for me to try out and report back to her what I thought of it. It seems a bit harsh, but I'm sticking with it to get a better idea. Other than that, I clean it once a day with Satin in the shower.

I expected this piercing to hurt, since it was so close to my eye. But it didn't hurt at all, and my eyes didn't even water like I expected. It was never sore, not even immediately after the pierce. There hasn't been any swelling and the only problem is that I've had it a couple days and constantly forget it's there. It's quite easy to bump or catch on things, so I'm trying my best to not rip it out. I don't know if I'll keep this piercing long, simply because I'm not sure if I like it. But it was a fun time, and who knows, it may just grow on me.
