Firstly I should give you some background information on my piercing experiences. I've always been fascinated by body modifications- from an early age especially, because my oldest sister has had many done in the past (tongue, labret, nose, ears, stretching, navel). When I was 13 it took me several months to convince my parents to let me get my navel pierced. I got it done May 4th, 2002. It was painless and I swore that it was the only piercing I would get. I remember Virginia, my piercer at Future Skin telling me "You get one, and you suddenly want more." How right she was...

That same year, the day after my 14th birthday my mom took me back downtown to get my nose pierced as one of my presents. We went to Future Skin again, but Virginia wasn't here so I got a guy named Eric. He was really young looking, and told me he'd prefer it if I kept my eyes closed, which made me more nervous. A slight pinch- it was over! I loved it.

I gave body modifications a rest from then on. I was infatuated with the way gauged ears looked, so I attempted that. Sadly I was too scared to do anything about it.

Then exactly three months ago to this exact day, on June 15th, after easily convincing my parents (Well, my mom... my father isn't partial to body modifications in the least) that I wanted/was going to get my eyebrow pierced. I wanted it done on the left side, as I have my nose done on my right. It was during exam week, and I was already really stressed out, as these were only my second set of exams ever taken. So on the Sunday before my Science exam, I took time out from studying, and my mother and I went downtown.

We decided to go to Universal Tattoo, which is only a few shops down from Future Skin. We decided to go there because Future Skin changed their policies that you have to be sixteen to get pierced, and have to have a parent with you. As I am only 14, that was not going to work!

A couple of days before the actual piercing took place; I called Universal just to make sure that they did body mods on younger people such as myself. They asked me if I had had any previous piercing experiences and how they had gone, and if my mom and/or dad would be coming with me. All systems go!

Universal is very reputable, and I know several people who have gotten pierced there. I went in, and I wasn't as nervous as I usually am for a piercing. They asked me to show them my hands and nails, to make sure I took care of myself and was clean. We filled out the forms and I talked to one of the guys for a bit, and then we waited for about 20 minutes. Finally the piercer, Jen, came out and introduced herself to us.

We went into the backroom (my mom and I) and Jen explained to me how everything was clean, sterilized, and safe. We talked a bit about her mods and she seemed so nice! Finally we were ready.

She cleaned my eyebrow with some funky smelling stuff of which I forget the name (it was like brownish) and then put the dots with the purple marker of where she thought it would look good on my eyebrow. It only took one try- the position was perfect and exactly what I had imagined.

She sat my down on the piercing table, clamped my eyebrow (Which she- and all of the other piercers have claimed is the most painful part) and even that didn't hurt. She stuck the needle through and I felt nothing. I think you can compare the eyebrow piercing pain to plucking your eyebrows. Nothing, at all! I was so happy that it didn't hurt too much. She put in the jewellery (a 16g barbell in surgical steel.) I got up, went to the mirror and looked at my beautiful new piercing. I loved it! My mom, who thought it was going to look terrible on me, really liked it to.

I thanked her profusely and told her I was pretty sure I'd be back for another piercing soon! I was ecstatic and so pleased with my new piercing.

I recommend this piercing to anyone who wants it done. It's painless, and it looks really nice. I was told to clean it two times a day with spectro gel, and use a q-tip and gently remove any crusties. It is very easy to care for.

I now also have gauged ears to a 4g (going down to 0g)- all this just shy of my 15th birthday! Sometimes I get dirty looks; sometimes I get lots of praise for my appearance. Just know that you like your piercing and that's all that matters!

..And to celebrate my 15th birthday this year, I am getting my vertical labret. I hope this experience helps anyone hoping/wanting to get their eyebrow pierced.
