Ever since I was old enough to talk and to understand the world a little I was into piercings. I found piercings beautiful. The way that you could decorate your body. Your temple. The shell that holds the soul. I found this inspiring and sensual.

I watched documentaries on piercings. The rituals of tribes. The way that you had to be pierced in some communities to get recognition and respect. The large lip rings of the women of African tribes all very beautiful to me.
When I was around 6 I got my ears pierced. It was nerve racking for me being my age and the environment of the shop. It was in a mall. It was done with a gun and they weren't really clean with anything. BIG MISTAKE. But how was I to know I was young.
I live in Fairbanks, Alaska which is a dull town. People amuse themselves anyway that they can. SO what did I decide to do. Get piercings. For a really long time I wanted a my tongue pierced. I really did but my parents said no. I kept asking and asking and asking until my dad went all red in the face and said "If you ask me that damn question one more time I will smack you!!!" ok there I guess the answers no.
So one weekend I was at my dads house and was looking at piercings on BME. Again I went to my dad nervous and said. "Daddy....can I get my t-" "NO!" Ok fine I thought. Be that way you are so unfair.
I waited a little bit after that and then asked him if I could get my lip pierced. He was a little easier on me with that but still was shaky with the answer. I had really wanted a piercing. Something to show what I wanted what I believed. My dad and I negotiated and he said "Well you can get your nose pierced." I was all happy and I we went to the piercing shop together. We got to the counter and the Jesse was there. He had pierced my tragus before. He was very professional. We were looking at jewelry. I found all kinds of studs and I thought wow how small but once it got in your nose it wasnt so small. I found the stud that I wanted and Jesse said ok I need to you see you guys' IDs and my dad and I were like what she doesnt have an Id. Jesse said well a new law has been passed so that you both need IDs. I left unhappy and my dad seemed sympathetic. He said to me as we went to the truck. "Well dont worry this Friday we can get you a state ID." I was happier knowing that b ut I hate waiting.
So I waited for what seemed forever when I finally was able to get my Id on my dads lunch break. We went to the center and waited for a long time. I filled out this form with my signature and me being easily amused I was all YEAH something new for me. I went to go take my picture. I looked cheesy but oh well. The lady there handed me my fresh Id. It was warm in my hands. I set it in my little black holder. I was so excited. Yeah now I can get my nose pierced.
Well another setback occured. I got a sinus infection. OH GREAT!! I thought. This is just wonderful. So my dad said, "Well why dont you get your eyebrow pierced." (Now we're getting to the eyebrow part.) I was like well I dont really want my eyebrow but it sounds cool.
I went to the piercing shop. Jesse came out and said nose right. me and my dad shook our heads. Nope eyebrow. Jesse said why the change of plans. I said Got a sinus infection. He winked at me knowingly and I walked to the counter. He gave me a slip and I filled it out. He asked me if I had eaten in the past 4 hours. I said no and he said well do you think that you should eat or can you handle it. I wasnt squeamish and If I was I would bear with the pain so I said naw I'm good to go. I looked at jewelry and picked out a capture ring.
We went to the back where you get pierced. It was bright and sterile much like a hospital room. I loved the smell of rubber gloves and antibacterial soap OH YES!!!
I sat down on this table like thing and he told me to sit still. I was comfortable for some reason and I did what he told me. He said he it would take a little bit because he needed to sterilze the instruments and jewelry in the autoclave. A few minutes later he came back. Everything was sterile. He washed his hands for a while and put some clear gloves on. He took out the jewelry and set it on a cloth. He then took a marker and was marking my eyebrow trying to get it all prepped. This took a really long time. He showed me where the dots were in the mirror. I said it looked good. He changed his gloves what seemed like a million times. He told me to lay down so that if I fainted I wouldnt crack my head open hehe. I had to get closer to him so that he could pierce me carefully. He took the needle and shoved it through my eyebrow. This didnt really hurt at all. It went smoothly. My eyes did water but all was good. He put the ring through the recieving tube and put the ball i n the ring. he told me that I could look in the mirror. He handed me a mirror I thought it looked good thanked him and hopped off the table.
The guys that hung around at the shop even said that it looked good. I blushed and said thanks.
Its been about a year now and I still have my eyebrow piercings. I also have my nose pierced and soon to get my nose.
