I am 16 right now and I go to high school. I have to say between my two 'real' piercings that this one was a very positive piercing and I recommend going to Shannon at Skin Deep Design in the Lewis Clark area in Washington state and Idaho state. MY other story was very bad and negative and I think I will sometime put it up for everyone to read a bad piercing story.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist shannon Studio Skin deep design Location Lewiston Idaho I had wanted my eyebrow pierced since I was like 13 but other things came to my mind (non-piercing related) and it got pushed away for a while. Then I got the brilliant idea of getting my tongue pierced when I was 14 and I went to get that done and I still have it in today but that is another story that I might put up one day soon. Then all of a sudden when I was 15 I got an itch for a new piercing. I decided to pursue the thought of getting my eyebrow pierced after I did a load of research on it. I begged my mom and she said no at first and told me not to push it but I really wanted it done so I made her look at pictures, stories, and the risks section on here to ease her on the subject then she finally agreed.
This was at the beginning of summer and I started babysitting but every time I always got like 35 dollars or 30 which was not enough so I would blow my money instead of saving it to get it done. At this time she absolutely refused to pay for it at all. I begged her to let me get it done before the school year started so it could get a head start on healing before school started. I gave up once again on the idea because I knew I would not get the money on my own so I continued to look here on BME all the time at other things.
Finally about the 15th of December I bring up my wanting for a piercing and she agreed to pocket out the cash for one of my Christmas presents. (Which is really ironic because the Christmas before she let me get my tongue pierced!) She called that same day and made an appointment at a studio called Skin Deep Design. After I told her I wasn't real sure of the other studios. Plus I went online to the website of the shop, which is www.Skindeepdesign.com, and there she had pictures of her shop, which was very clean looking. My appointment had then been set for one o'clock on Saturday.
Saturday at eleven o'clock my original ride backed out and wouldn't take us. We go to our trusty neighbor and ask and she says OK but she cant take us until 1:30. I then called reset my appointment for two o'clock and Shannon said it would be fine.
Finally about 1 50 on Saturday I walk into the shop with my mom and she says you must be my appointment for an eyebrow piercing right? And I told her yea. She then takes out a form and has me fill out my name, address, phone number birth date, If I had any other peircings; if so what, what I was getting pierced. Also there was a place for my mom to sign and say that she was giving her legal consent to this. Then she took me into one of her few curtained off areas to give her patients privacy. In there it was amazingly clean. It was cleaner then most doctor offices. She then asks if I wanted a straight barbell, curved barbell or a captive bead ring. I choose the curved barbell because I think they set well and look nicer. She then pulls out all of her tools and sets them on her tray and changes her gloves again. She then sets out to clean the area for it. Again changing her gloves and starts to mark it then tells me to go and look in the mirror if that is how I wanted it if not she would keep changing it until I liked it. I go back and I say I want it over by about two millimeters for each hole so she cleans it off and marks it again and has me go look once more to see if it is right. I go look and I know it is just perfect. She then tells me to sit down in the typical dentist like chair. At this point I am just like freaking out inside but wont show it on the outside. My mom then asks if she can watch because she is done filling out her section of the form so she stands there and watches. Shannon then asks if I am ready to go through with this and I was so she says I am going put it through and it might sting a bit for minute. She shoved the needle through and it felt like it lasted forever even though it was only about a second. As it went through it felt like a red-hot poker going through but yet it didn't really hurt. It is an odd feeling to explain. I bleed a little bit and she was real quick to keep it from going to far down my face, bu t it was a weird feeling of warm blood rushing down your face. After s he put the needle through she took off the cork which put a lot of pressure on it and the clamps also (which by the way were not that bad) those two things made it more comfortable considering I had a needle in my face. She then slid out the 14 gauge needle followed by the bent barbell (16 gauge) which pushed out a tiny more bit of blood which she cleaned up then she changed her gloves again and screwed on the ball. Finally she explained after care which I already knew from checking out so much information on here but I listened anyway. I must also say she has an autoclave and a hazardous material bin. I gave her a 50 which thirty-five was for the piercing and five for some cleaner stuff she recommend and then ten as a tip. I thanked her and walked out with my mom.
After we left and we went to Wal-Mart where I saw two friends who I hadn't told about it and they were like Oh My God! They thought it was cool.
My after care procedure:
Day one: didn't touch until that night to wash because I was somewhat nervous about it.
Day two: I cleaned it when I was in the shower that morning after school and then at night.
Day three to about 28: same as day two
Day 29 to about 35: I then only washed it only at morning and after school (because I had PE and I get sweaty so I didn't want all that in there)
Day 35 to 40: I then proceeded to wash it about once a day in the morning.
NOW: I wash it when it needs it.
A side note: I have had my eyebrow pierced for about seven months and it hasn't showed any signs of infection nor migration. I hope it holds out longer for me because I love it very much and I feel that it is a part of me as much as my eyes and mouth are! I definitely recommend this piercing to anyone who is willing to stick to aftercare because I don't think you want a big infection right above your eye! Plus I don't think this is for a person who has strict boss or is afraid of having scarring! Plus never do your own body piercing in a bathroom, a friend's house, or anything like that. Only get it done by a trustworthy shop or if you really know what you are doing.
Good luck with your piercing!
