I had been thinking about getting something pierced for months, so I have been researching here on BME more and more for the past month or so, and finally got paid after a screw up last month so decided it was time.
At A Glance Author Simon Contact Simon@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Cant remember his name Studio The Metal Guru Location Stockton-on-Tees, England I looked up some studios in my area, and decided not to go to any in the town I live in, because of some horror stories I'd heard about piercers in this town, so went to the next town over from me, Stockton on Tees, which is where my best friend lives.
There were so many things to try and stop me from getting it though.
I got up later than I had planned, 4 hours later, so instead of getting up around 8am, I got up around midday instead! Then I couldn't leave because some 'person' decided it would be fun to park in front of my drive. He came back after I sat there leaning on my horn and moved his car, so I started going over to my friend's (because he was thinking about getting something done as well), and I got stuck in traffic on the way.
I got to his house, and he'd gone out, so I had to wait there for him for about 15 minutes. He finally turned up and decided he wanted a bong, so had to wait for that as well.
So we head for the shop, and got stuck in traffic again.
We get to the shop, and I didn't think to find out if they took credit cards or anything, so because they didn't, I had to go find a cash machine.
I got the money out, and then couldn't remember where I had come out of, because the shop is down a small alleyway, so wandered around for a bit til I got my bearings back, and then found the alleyway again.
After all that, I decided I deserved to get it done!
So I got back to the shop, which is a small welcoming place, painted in black and purple with some jewellery on display to choose from
I said to the guy I was back, and he handed me the form to fill out, so as I was sat there, my mate was feeling a bit ill cos of his bong, so I told him to go sit in the corner and shutup. I finished the form and handed it back to the guy, decided on a standard vertical piercing with a curved barbell in my left eyebrow, paid the guy, and he got the equipment together.
We went into the back room, and he proceeded to open all the equipment in front of me. He changed gloves each time he did something, so changed them about 4 or 5 times.
He cleaned the area down, and got everything together in the tray next to me.
He cleaned my eyebrow, and then marked me up, and asked if the placement was ok. It looked fine to me, so he put the clamps on, which were from a sterile pack, which to be honest, I couldn't even feel.
As he was doing this, we were just chatting, and he asked if I had thought about any other piercings, so I told him I'd been thinking about getting my nipple done but couldn't afford it that day, so possibly both of them, or all of them.
He looked at me kinda blank, and said, 'all of them?'. So I said 'yeah, I've got 3', to which he said with a grin 'Really? Can I see??' So I lifted my t-shirt and showed him, and he was chuffed that Id got 3 nipples.
He said though, that if it was pierced, it would probably reject because its just a small third nipple.
After that, he refocused his attention on my eyebrow, he put the needle through, and there was hardly any pain at all.
In fact it hurt loads less than having my earlobe done a few years ago, which was with a gun (I know, I didn't know better then).
It hardly bled at all, and he cleaned it up, and went through the aftercare.
I advised I'd researched this site, so he said I already had a good idea what to do and what not to do with it.
I thanked him, and advised I'd be back to get other things pierced, once I can afford it again like, starting with my other eyebrow.
I'll be back there in a couple of months anyway, to change to a purple bar to match in with the frames on my glasses.
In all, Im really happy that I did it, its one of the better things I've done to my body in recent years, and Im not gonna change it for anything.
