For the past year and a half I have really wanted my eyebrow pierced. My friend from across the street had just gotten her's done which made me want it even more. I talked to my mom about it and she said that if I waited for 6 months and I still wanted it and if my dad said yes too, then I could get it. The waiting for 6 months part was easy, the hard part was convincing my dad into letting me get it done. He's the type of guy that is very old fashioned and thinks tattoos and piercing "aren't good for you". After about a year he said that I could get it for my 15th birthday.

Waiting from that point till my birthday went by so slow. I seriously counted down the days from 2 months away. Everyday I would wake up saying "48 days till I get my eyebrow pierced" or "27 days till I am getting my eyebrow pierced". It was never how many days till school was out, how many days till I could get my permit, but how many days till I would have an eyebrow piercing. As you can tell, I was really excited.

I talked to a few of my friends that had gotten their eyebrows pierced and all of them said that you can hardly even feel it when they pierce you and not to worry at all. So of course, I trusted them and I wasn't scared at all, I was just really excited.

It came to be the day of my birthday and that day of school I swear lasted a lifetime. When I finally got home I had to wait until 5 then my sister and I drove to High Priestess and met my mom there. Josh came over to me and talked to me about the aftercare of the piercing and things that could go wrong, like infections and stuff like that. He then took me into this room and had me sit down in a chair. He took a pen and made two little dots on my eyebrow and told me to look in the mirror to see if that's where I wanted the piercing. I thought it looked good so I went back to the chair shaking. I don't know why I was shaking though because I wasn't scared at all about piercing it, because I knew it wasn't going to hurt. I think I was just nervous that I was going to have a hole through my eyebrow in a few minutes and that it was finally happening.

Josh then told me to close my eyes and he took out the needle and told me too take a deep breath. As I exhaled, the needle went through, and the only pain I felt was as the needle was going through and it only hurt as bad as pinching your eyebrow hurts. He put the jewelry in and told me to have a look in the mirror. I looked and I loved it immediately.

It is really easy to care for, all you have to do is use a special soap on it while in the shower everyday and do one or two sea salt soaks. I have only snagged it twice and one of those times it shed some blood. Yeah it hurt, but not bad at all. If you are thinking about getting an eyebrow piercing, I recommend it, for me at least, it didn't hurt and didn't bruise or get infected, I am very satisfied with it. If you take care of it, it will be a very healthy piercing.

If you are a person that bruises easily and are thinking about getting your eyebrow pierced here's something to know that might happen. A friend of mine named Courtney got her eyebrow pierced and her eyebrow bruised and swelled up for about a week. Now it looks great, but that is something that could happen. And don't think that your piercing will turn out beautiful on its own, you need to make sure and take proper care of it. Eyebrow piercings and other surface piercings can be pushed out of your body. If you see your piercing doing this, do not take it out, go to where you got it pierced and have a professional do it, that is unless you want a big line scar. Like on your eyebrow if it grew all the way out, you would have a line scare down your eyebrow and the hair wouldn't grow back there. So be sure and take good care of any piercing you get. One other thing, my other friend Jamie got her eyebrow pierced but then got a job where they wouldn't allow her to have it. So s he went and bought a clear retainer thing that you can put in while at work or at a place where you didn't want it in if that ever was the case. Even if you did decide later in life that you wanted it out you could take it out and most of the time, the scars are so tiny that you can hardly even notice it.
