OK, so here goes my story of how I got my eyebrow pierced.
At A Glance Author BloodFlame When It just happened Artist Lane Studio Dragon FX Location West Edmonton Mall, Alberta The Beginning: My family and I went to the West Edmonton Mall, for the annual "family vacation." My dad had planned to go up to Dragon FX to get some touchups done on an older tattoo, and I had decided to inquire about a piercing I wanted, a Rook. Earlier in the year, I had asked my mom if I could have my eyebrow done, and she had said nope, no way, not until you're at least 16. So that idea was discarded. I then asked about a couple ear piercings I liked, Rook, Industrial, etc. Her answer to that was that if it was on the ears, she didnt care. So I decided on a Rook. Knowing that the "family vacation" was coming up soon, I asked if I could get it done there if I got my marks up in school. No way was her answer. My dad was quite against any piercing besides the ears as well. It came very much a surprise to me when, finding out a rook was $60, and an eyebrow was $50, and sharing this information with my parents, that they decided that they would let me to get my eyebrow done! The real shocker came when my mom said "If your dad hadn't convinced me to let you, I probably would've said no." Thanks dad!
The Piercing: We went to Dragon FX right at opening time, so we didn't have a very long wait at all. My sister was with my dad and I, hoping she could go in and watch. She isn't very into body piercing or tattoos, she just has 2 standard lobes, which she is happy with. I filled out the forms stating yes I had eaten in the last four hours, no I wasn't drunk, high, etc., and after a minor problem involving my lack of ID, I was sat in a chair and told to wait for the piercer. After a short wait of maybe 10 minutes, Lane came out and called me back to his room. My sister wasn't allowed in, so she stayed in the waiting room, and I was by myself for this one. I sat down on a fairly tall table, much like one at the doctors office. He took out his supplies, including an individually wrapped needle and CBR, presumably in autoclaved packets. He donned some rubber gloves then wiped down my eyebrow with an alcohol pad, marked the dots with a purple marker, and told me to lie down and t ilt my head over. He asked if I was nervous, after I made a right ass of myself, turning my head the wrong way. (I was a bit nervous, my only previous mods being 6 gunned lobes, two of which are at 4g, the other 4 at 12g, and a gunned cartilage. I know now after reading BME, guns are bad! Stay away from em!) He put on a drop of lube, told me to take a deep breath, and bam, the needle was through. It didn't hurt a bit! It felt more like a bit of pressure, and a teeny little pinch. The ring was threaded through, the ball snapped in, and I was cleaned up to remove some of the leftover marker, and the minute amount of blood, and told to look in the mirror. It was perfect! Boy were my legs shaky! I was glad I had eaten beforehand or I might just have fallen down! I was given an aftercare sheet and sent on my way. After a quick pop in to show my dad (who was getting his tattoo fixed) my sister and I were off to go do some shopping.
The Aftermath: So far healing has been good, though thats not saying much for only having it for 2 days! I rinse it with warm water after gym class, and use a cotton swab soaked in saline solution twice a day to clean off the crusties (which so far are very minimal). It hardly hurt afterwards and it doesn't hurt at all now, even when I smacked it putting my sunglasses on, being the bumbling idiot that I am. My only worry is it getting injured in rugby, so I put a few bandaids over it and so far it is going good.
Well thanks for reading me rambling on about my story, hope it gave you some good information. And to all you out there who might be thinking of getting their eyebrow pierced but are afraid of the pain, go for it! You only live once, and the pain is so minimal its totally worth it! I also highly recommend Lane at Dragon FX in the West Edmonton Mall. He is so super nice, and very gentle too!
