I had decided I wanted a bridge piercing not long after having my lip pierced. I thought it would really compliment my facial structure and be symmetrically accurate. I went to the local body piercing studio and talked to a guy named Jason. I asked him all kinds of questions about the healing process, and proper care for a surface piercing like this before I went through with the process.

He was very helpful and suggested that these kind of piercing never really heal and may push out. I was sort of disappointed by this, but I still wanting the piercing done, as it was something I've never seen anyone else have in the area i'm in. I'm sure it is common elsewhere though, as there are many great pictures of people with bridge piercings all over BME.

He also noted that he won't pierce a bridge unless the person has had 2 or more piercings before and know what its like and know that you have to be extremely careful with it, especially being near the eyes.

I'm in his office and filling out the form to legally state I won't hold him responsible if he messes up my face. After I finished that and waited in the "lobby" for about 10 minutes he came in, and I was set to go.

I sat on this very cold metal table with my bare legs which made me very tense and cold. He went and got a blanket so I could sit in comfort and be relaxed enough for the piercing. I felt much better by this point. I sat there not really sure what to expect, but I was going to find out soon enough.

He was over at the sink washing up and putting on some latex gloves. He had a metal tray with the needle, cleaning solution, clamp and the piercing that was to be place in my body. He cleaned up the area where he was going to pierce and then stood there looking at my bridge for about 10 minutes drawing on little dots where he think the piercing would suit me best.

I felt quite uncomfortable with him looking at me for that long. It felt like he was looking into my eyes trying to read my mind or something. He pulled out this large clamp and fastened elastics around the bottom for tension. He made sure the dots matched up and then he said he was ready to do it.

He asked if I would like him to count down but I don't think that would have been a good idea hearing his creepy voice and and him staring at my bridge so I told him to just do it. That is exactly what he did. He took the needle and pushed it through before I could blink (even though my eyes were closed the entire time). The needle was through and the bar following it.

At this point my entire face felt relieved, as though mass amounts of tension were released because of this new hole. I was very amazed at what I was feeling, as I first thought it would be painful, at least somewhat. It was the complete the opposite. I felt no pain, no tension, just very good.

One really great thing about this piercing is that I no longer have horrible migraines. I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this or not, but having this piercing cure my migraines and most headaches. I believe this must be because of the pressure point, much like the temples.

I have kept my bridge piercing for over a year now, and there is a little bit of pushing out. I took out the bridge at one point just to clean it but soon after I have developed a pocket on the side of my nose where infection sometimes collects. This also developed after I pulled it on a pillow in my sleep. This is quite a large concern with me, and i'm not really sure if I should just take the piercing out or go see a professional to tell me what may be wrong.

I figure there isn't much I can do for it, as I clean it every day and make sure i'm careful (unless i'm unconscious). It is ok right now but it seems to always come back. My best alternative is to just take it out and hope it heals.

So unfortunately my story ends on a more negative note. The fact that I don't get migraines anymore is a definite plus, and might be used for people who have severe migraine problems. It could be used even as a suggestion by doctors or used in acupuncture who knows! It could even be an undiscovered cure and be used in the future of medical science. Ok probably not, but it is a very fun piercing and worth trying.

The End.
