I got my left eyebrow pierced just over one year ago. It wasn't my initial intent to get my eyebrow done, I had wanted my tongue to be pierced, but the place in town did not do tongue piercings as it was mainly a tattoo shop. This isn't to say that I didn't want a eyebrow piercing or even that it was a second choice, it had been part of the plan all along, I just did not want it as much as a tongue piercing.

I had not eaten a real meal in about six hours, which looking back was not smart, but luckily it had no negative effects. When Dinny, the man who was going to pierce me, finished off piercing some navels, he called me back into the piercing area. He had me sit down on a 'dentist' style chair and then began to explain what he was going to do. He asked what I wanted pierced first (I had made an appointment for both my eyebrow and labret), in case I backed out from the pain, if it hurt too much. I choose eyebrow. He then asked which one, and I choose my left eyebrow. Dinny then marked my eyebrow and had me look in the mirror, the placement was far off to the left, barely on the eyebrow, but I liked it.
Dinny then used a flash light to look for any veins in the area and seeing none he got ready to pierce. He washed the area with soap, I can't remember if he used anything else to clean it. He insisted I close my eyes and relax, then, with warning he pierced my eyebrow. It was the only piercing I've got that I'd call painless, but it was. He inserted a 16 gauge captive bead ring, and my eyebrow was done. Then I got my labret pierced, but that's a story for another day. The piercings cost me 90 dollars in total, or 45 each. I remember tipping 10 bucks (please tip your piercer if you think they deserve it!)
For after care, I did what I was told which was wash, twice a day with antibacterial soap and rotate. Doing this stung quite a bit, and rotating was painful, at first due to dried blood and later from dried up lymphatic secretions. I would not suggest this method of aftercare to any however. Now I find salt soaks are all that's needed, and that rotating is actually harmful. Despite the fact that the aftercare was not the best possible I healed up rather quickly without difficulties, aside for sleeping. At first I found sleeping uncomfortable as a slept on my side, however after about a month my eyebrow no longer affected my sleeping habits.
I really liked the way the piercing looked, and I got mostly positive comments for everyone, all my friends liked it, and my parents didn't really care either way. Although everyone liked the ring, I had always preferred the look of a barbell.
Although earlier I mentioned that I was pierced at 16 gauge, at the time I thought it was 14 gauge, this let be to attempt to insert a 14 gauge straight barbell, as I preferred the look of barbells. This was doomed to failure and I gave up eventually, after realizing the size difference. I did however get my dream of a barbell, as later I purchased a 16 gauge curved barbell. Inserting it was not exactly easy as it never wanted to go though all the way however with some effort (and discomfort) I did get it in. I wore this barbell until I managed to find a black barbell, which due to my black fetish was very much to my liking. Once again it was some what difficult to insert, but I managed.
Alas my eyebrow was not meant to be, perhaps because of my roughness on it, on the placement, or maybe just because eyebrows tend to reject, but mine did reject after having it for about 8 months. Well not completely. I saw the signs of rejection (the barbell getting closer and closer to the surface) and decided to remove it on my own, rather then get a big scar. I still got a small scar, two little red dots, that are barely noticeable. Although I liked it a lot when I had it, and did not want to take it out, I have not had much of a desire to get it pierced again, and have started to like it better without it.
