I'd been wanting to get my eyebrow pierced since I was in grade 6. I'm 14 now, and I finally got it done. It took quite a bit of convincing my dad (my mom helped a bit too), but it was pretty easy to get him to say yes, and in the end it was definately worth it. Pretty much all I had to do was go back to school in September. So I agreed and my mom transferred $60 into my bank account.

I had to wait a few days for the money to get there - those few days seemed like forever. I was really nervous and I kept wondering if I should go through with this. Of course I had to though, as my mom already transferred the money and I'd told all my friends that I was getting it done. I set up an appointment for Friday July 19th.

Finally the days passed, and it was the 19th - the day had finally come, and I was going to get my eyebrow pierced. I had read a lot of experiences on BME and I was hoping that most of the stories were accurate (the ones that said it didn't hurt of course). Me, my dad, and my brother, arrived at Salon Bridges on 5th street in Courtenay. I was so damn nervous. We went inside and I told the lady I was here to get my eyebrow pierced. She told me she'd be with me in a few minutes. The place was very clean, and it made me more comfortable for some reason. I liked it a lot.

After about 15 minutes of waiting for her to finish up with another customer, she told me she was ready for me and me and my dad went into the piercing room. It was a small room, with a dentist like chair in the middle of the room. She told me to sit down in the chair, and I did so. She adjusted the chair and told me about the procedure. She told me she was going to do aroma-therapy on me to calm me down and relax me a bit. It was crazy and I didn't think it would work, but it did. She had a little spoon full of stuff that she put under my nose and told me to breath in through my nose and out through my mouth. I did, and it worked - it relaxed me a bit. After this, she told me she would count to 3 and she'd put the needle through my eyebrow (oh yeah, she did not use a clamp). She counted to 3 and put the needle through - I barely felt it! It was only a little tiny pinch! It stung for about 3 minutes, and the pain was gone - mind you after she put the bead in I asked if she c ould put in a blue bead - that hurt a little but nothing major.

My dad asked if it hurt. "Not really." I told him. After it was pierced and all, it bled quite a bit and didn't stop for about 15 minutes. The lady kept having to wipe the blood off my face, and clean my eyebrow again. Once it stopped bleeding, she gave me a mirror and asked what I thought. I told her it was awesome, and then I was on my way to pay for it. I went to the counter and paid the $58 and she gave me a pamphlet on cleaning my piercing and such, and she gave me sea salt and soap. She told me that once it was healed (6-8 weeks) I could come back and get the ring changed to a barbell if I wanted, and if I had any questions or anything I could ask her. I was happy - I thanked her and was on my way.

After a couple months, my dad got me a barbell for my eyebrow, and we went to Salon Bridges to get it changed (after I tried to change it myself and kept messing up and pinching myself with, because I wasn't using the proper tools...ouch!). We arrived there and she brought me into the back room and changed it, no questions asked - it was awesome. She gave me my ring, and I was on my way - it cost me nothing.

It's been exactly 3 months and 2 days and I love my eyebrow piercing! I'm now thinking about getting my tongue, septum, and lip pierced, but I don't know... They might hurt. That's all. I hope this has provided you with a bit of confidence if you're going to get your eyebrow pierced - don't worry about it, it doesn't hurt nearly as much as you think it's gonna. Skate for life,

King Caddy
