Ever since I started coming to BME, about 2 years ago, I've wanted to get my anti-eyebrow pierced. On my first glance of that fateful piercing, I knew it was for me. But either I never had the funds, or I had a job that didn't allow it, or I wasn't in a place in my life where I was confident enough to have an unusual piercing. But over the last few months, I've gotten inked and have begun to develop my own style.

About two or three months ago, my fiance and I passed by New Age on our way home, and decided to go in and take a look. Alex was up-front and as warm as the Russian Army General gets (you'll understand if you know him). He took an immediate liking to my fiance, who's a very outgoing person, and eventually warmed up to me enough to apprentice me to learn tattooing, and maybe piercing later on.

Anyway, as I said, for years now I've wanted this piercing, and with my fiance helping me, I'm finally coming out of my shell (piercing wise.. I've been dying my hair odd colours for years, and have a few -concealable- tattoos), so I thought "what the hell?". I recieved $40 from a friend for some tax stuff, and we headed off to New Age to book an appointment to do my next tattoo for my apprenticeship on my best friend, and to see if Alex could do my piercing right away.

After examining my skin (I don't have very stretchy skin, which can pose a problem), Alex decided he should be able to do the piercing. He spent about ten minutes pulling at my skin and stretching it and moving the position of his hands, which I found a little odd, then finally marked the spots to pierce. I consulted my fiance and best friend on the positioning, and they both said it was perfect. We picked a 16g curved barbell to go through, and we were ready.

Again, the awkwardness from Alex as he put the forceps on and whatnot. Then the needle went through. I'd had my navel pierced last summer (though it got infected and I had to take it out a few weeks ago), so I knew the procedure, but it was more intense with it by my eye. I remember hoping it would be done as soon as possible, as I was getting more uncomfortable by the second. Perhaps it's because I'm afraid of silver metal objects near my face (ie. needles.. I've had several eye surgeries over the years). Luckily, Alex told me to close my eyes and "breathe"...

He weaved the curved barbell through, which snagged a little and kinda hurt, but was otherwise okay, and screwed the bottom ball on, and we were done.

My fiance handed me the mirror, and I couldn't help but grin at this new piece of metal in my face, even though the skin was tight and it was more than a little painful to grin so wide. My fiance told me i was sexy and he REALLY liked it, and my best friend said "surprisingly, it really suits you. I wasn't sure if it would," which is a big compliment from him. I thanked Alex, and a wave of nausea swept over me. Alex rushed me to the door, pulled up a chair and sat me down, thrusting a bottle of water at me.

After about 5 minutes, though, I was fine, and could stand up and admire the new piercing closer in the full-length mirror. I loved it!

My fiance complimented Alex on the good work, and it wasn't until then that Alex decided to tell us that I was his FIRST anti-eyebrow piercing! After thanking Alex again, I paid him, and we were on our way home.

I can't find my sea salt left over from my navel piercing, so I've mainly been using water and a bit of soap, but there are no crusties yet and only a little bit of blood from smacking it accidently while I talk or catching it on my shirt of school bag.

I definately have to recommend this piercing! Other than the nausea, it was a great experience, and the compliments I've gotten around school have completely lifted my spirits! Everyone loves it and comes up to me to ask, first, "is that a piercing?" and then "did it hurt?" But I don't mind answering, I love getting the compliments, and having this unique piercing that no one else I know has. Even the older teachers at my school like it, and not too many people are surprised I got it, to tell the truth. But anyway, all I've heard is good comments about the anti-eyebrow, which is boosting my self-esteem already.

This piercing is definitely a keeper!
