My eyebrow piercing is very near and dear to my heart. It's the pioneer piercing for me if you would say, that particular gateway "drug" that lightened my path to bigger and better things. The tail of my eyebrow is perty long, if I can remember it all.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of new things, it was the age of old things.. (a tail of two cities) Not really, it was just an ordinary Christmas day. This was the Christmas of my freshman year of high school, after two years of begging and pleading to get an eyebrow piercing. So Christmas morning, as per usual I wake up and head straight towards the tree in awe of thinking what I could possibly be getting this year. There were bunches of presents under the tree, but none of them particularly caught my eye. Instead the first one thing that caught me was a lone card stuck in the top of the tree. Knowing that my parents never give me cards on holidays led me to be suspicious. They had a tendency, to in the past, put tasty little IOU type presents in cards. I had asked for an eyebrow piercing so I automatically assumed thats what it would be. Another thing that led me to be suspicious was the first thing I went for was the card and my dad forbade me to open it untill I had opened all my other presents. Finally the time came, I ripped open the card only to find a mini SS 16g curved barbell. I was so happy! Only one catch. The next day I would be leaving for Florida for, oh, about two weeks so I would have to wait for those ever painful weeks to go by.

So now we're going to fast forward through those two weeks. Now it's about January 8, 2000. The day I've been anxiously waiting for for two weeks finally came. I woke up and had an appointment at 7 am. We got to the place we had originally planned on going to, Liqiud Swordz, WAS CLOSED! We got there and there was a hand wirrten note that said something along the line of, "Sorry about the inconvenience, we had to close shop today, please come back later to get stabbed." That right there just crushed me. After having to beg for two years, then put off for two weeks, I then had to put it off untill we could find another shop or wait untill the shops opened back up in two days. Being the restless one I am I couldn;t possibly wait any loner and absolutely had to get it done that day.

After looking through a phone book we found another shop close by called Brand Name Tattoo. My dad perty much said, "What the hey, we'll stop by since they're close to here." I asked him if we should call and find out their policy on piercing minors (seeing as how I was only 14 at the time) and he said, "Oh no no, it's no problem at all." We got there and filled out the nessecary forms while we waited for the piercer to get in. We waited and waited and waited for about 2 and a half hours for the piercer to finally get there, I believe she was running late. She arrived and as we were talking to her, to absolutely NO avail she told us she doesn't pierce minors. She said being 14 my body is still change which could increase the chances of migration and/or rejection, especially being a surface type piercing. I totally understand the purpose of it and that it was for the good of me, but boy was I mad! Yet again I had to put it off.

In the mean time my dad and I went to the mall to return a couple defective Christmas presents. While we were there, BAM! it hit me! My cousin had her eyebrow pierced so why don't we give her a call and find out where she had gotten it. We called and she gave us the information we needed. This time my dad actually called the shop and very luckily they said, "Of course we'll pierce your daughter as long as you have her birth certificate proper ID and your license." So we left the mall and I was soo geeked because after two years, two weeks, and about 3 hours I was FINALLY getting my eyebrow pierced. I noticed that my dad was heading home so of course I didn't hestitate to ask what was going on. He said, "Well we're going to wait for your sister to get home from work." Yet again I had to wait. I was becoming quite an impatient girl. I had to wait an extra 5ish hours.

Now my sister comes home and I finally get to get my eyebrow pierced. I got it done at this shop on Ecorse road, I can't remember the city for the life of me, but it's called Johnson's tattoo. I signed the waiting list and then my dad filled out the necessary forms. I had to wait about half an hour or so because there was a lip piercing and a tongue piercing ahead of me. By this time I'd become sooo nervous that I could not sit down. To alleviate this feeling I got up and nervously fumbled through the many books of flash.

My time came and the only thing I can seriously remember is he put the dots on my eyebrow and asked me if it was ok. I told him ok then he proceeded to put the clamp on and he said this was probly the most painful part of the procedure and I though, "God this isn't painful at all!" He told me to breath and then stuck me. All it felt like was accidently pricking yourself with a sewing needle. The only thing that was uncomfortable for me was when he put the jewelry in.

That is the story of my eyebrow. Like I said it's very near and dear to my heart. It opened way for my other piercings. Also do not listen to that crap, "blah blah every eyebrow piercing grows out after a year!" Thats not necessarily true you see, mine will be 2 years old in January and it was pierced perty shallow with no migration/rejection/infection as of so far. Any questions? Just send an email, or if your kool sned me an email anyway, I love talking to new people.
Peace,<3,&SurfNakie!
