Yes, It's true! Piercing does happen in Canada as well, as can be proven by me!

Ever since my 14th birthday I have wanted to get my tongue pierced. My father was a little bit iffy on that, and he suggested that I wait. So I did. I waited two years until I was sixteen and then one day I skipped work to go get it pierced. Virtually painless, yet a pain in the ass to take care of let me tell you that. So anyways this whole tongue thing is leading up to a similar story, my eyebrow ring!

Yes, at the time that I was getting my tongue pierced I was also contemplating about getting my eyebrow pierced. I thought about it and the more and more I thought, the more I wanted it. So one day I asked my dad if he would take me to get it done, just to be fair to him, as I had not informed him the first time when I was getting my tongue pierced. (Although both piercings were spontaneous, although thought out)

The whole thing started when my friend Susan came to school one day out of the blue with a brand new eyebrow ring. I was......shocked. So I was like, "wow now I REALLY need to get mine done" . So that leads us up to the point where I asked my father if he would take me. He asked a fair amount of questions, but he was pretty cool about it, and he took me. So the next thing I knew, I was sitting in the little dentists chair once again, and Jodi (my piercer) was preparing the rings, equipment, etc....

I was a little bit nervous but not really, because I remember building myself up a little bit when I got my tongue done, then replying that it wasn't so bad after all. But this was the first of my surface piercings, so I did not know what I was getting into. But as usual I remained fairly calm, and let her go through the procedure. Ok, I am NOT being a macho man in front of my friends writing this article. Some people who write to BME put down people who say it didn't hurt, and call us liars because it hurt for them. News flash ! If you had even bothered to read ANYTHING about piercing before you actually went to go put a hole in your face, you would realize that for some people it DOES hurt, because of nerves, or building yourself up, or inexperienced piercers. For most people it DOES NOT HURT THAT MUCH. I have no trouble admitting that it did not hurt all that much, although I could feel a split second of pain as the needle was exiting. Please people, READ UP on piercings before you go and do them. KNOW what you are in for.

As for my eyebrow ring, I love it, although I am now deathly afraid of migration. I will admit, I knew about migration before I went and actually did this, but I did not read up on it as much as I could have. My thoughts on migration when I was getting it pierced implied that migration only occurs if it is genetically necessary, or if you do not take proper care of the piercing. This is partially true, however I thought these were the ONLY reasons. Migration can occur for no reason at all...... just because it does, so to speak. I really do not want this to happen, as I find that eyebrow rings are the best looking piercings. But anyways, that is my story of getting my eyebrow piercing at "Artistic Impressions" the piercer being Jodi. They are very clean there, have a good reputation, and are much better than "Heads" right around the corner from "Artistic Impressions." If anyone is reading this from the St.Catharines area in Ontario, Canada, then think again before going to Heads. They do a horrible job, have many, many horror stories, the staff is not friendly, and do not offer lower prices than Artistics, the prices are the same. So PLEASE go to Artistics for your own sake.

I simply cannot wait until I can change my ring though. At first I hated the sight of the actual ring itself, not the piercing, but after awhile I got used to it. But my plans for the future include getting a second eyebrow ring in my left eyebrow (oh yes I forgot to mention that my first was in my right eyebrow)

and then putting spikes in them. For the people who do not know, spikes are just barbells with a spiky ball on the end, instead of round and smooth. I want the small spikes however, not the big long ones, and prefer them to be a banana barbell. I think that it will look amazing once done, and I will have achieved my eyebrow look. As for the rest of my body, (lebret, etc.... that is a different story hehehehe) HAPPY PIERCING, and come on....lighten up about the whole thing.

P.S. If you are worried about getting a piercing and finding a job...my friends and I find that piercing is becoming more and more accepted within companies, and those who do not accept it are just discriminating you. DO NOT put up with this, and if at all necessary, take legal action if piercing is not part of the dress code. There I said it. Piercing is artistic, not a horrendous hole in the face.
