So, here I am. Fourteen years old and ready to be an "individual". Whatever thatmeant to me at the time is beyond me.

This was 1997 or 96, before piercings were very popular, especially for people my age. My father was a rebel; him and my mom disagreed on the entire tattoos, piercings, dirty clothes, not showering, and other related rebellious activities. But it didn't stop my dad from taking my brother to get his tongue pierced at age 16. I was jealous I have to admit. So, at fourteen I began harassing my pops to take me downtown to do the deed. So we went one January morning with his girlfriend. We started off by eating a huge meal at a local diner. It was my preparation meal! No big deal, I swear. So we entered Chat St. around noonish. When I was filling out the paperwork the girl's eyes popped out of her head when they saw my age. She had to make sure it was correct. I felt so dumb. I didn't want them all to know! When you are fourteen, the smallest things seem to have the biggest most devastating impact on your life. It's funny how things change.

Then I saw Chris, whom I thought was super hot. He was probably about 20, and I was 14, but that didn't matter to me! By this time a crowd had begun to gather around the piercing area. They all knew something was going down. This guy with about a 4-gauge septum was staring at me. He was talking to his friend about how he could just see the fear on my face. I was so scared I could have died; I wanted to crawl under the seat and disappear. So Chris came out with his gloves on. He closed the curtain, bye Mr. Septum ring. Chris made me feel really comfortable. The clamp went down, I closed my eyes and held my father's girlfriends hand tightly. The needle poked through and I thought it was over. As I stood up and looked around I could see something in the corner of my eye. It was the needle! He wasn't done; I was walking around with the needle still in my eyebrow. He put the ring in and that was that.

That was just the beginning of my metal. About a year later I had to take out my eyebrow ring due to infection. I cleaned it everyday. One day I went to get my hair cut and the hairdresser caught the barbell on her comb and that's what did it. It was all down hill from there. I recall calling Chat Street to talk to Chris about the infection and someone there told me that he was in jail and wouldn't be out for quite sometime. So I was kind of left in the dark concerning what to do. So about 6 months after the eyebrow barbell was removed, after months of debating, I got my tongue pierced. This piercing was done by a different girl, same place. The girl was rad, very friendly. The pain was nothing, it was soothing. The swelling was kind of bad. Kids in school made me say "Red Rover" because I couldn't say it correctly. It sounded more like "Wed Wover". After that I got my ears stretched for the first time. I liked the idea of it. After the first stretching I got my traigus done, just one. I couldn't afford both of them. I guess that gives you an idea of how poor I really am. My friend Dave at Star Rocket did all the stretchings and traigus piercing in Ellicott City, Maryland. The traigus got infected probably 2 or so months after I got it. At this point my ears were at a 10 gauge circular barbell. The circular barbells kind of looked shitty on me, I was unhappy with it. So last summer when I was at the beach I decided to do some plug shopping. I found some cute ones at a store and had the guy there shove them in. These were 6 gauges. Going from 10 to 6 was a bit painful, but just some burning, nothing major. Oh, I forgot something, the summer before that I got my navel done with a fake ID, no pain no gain.

So basically that's where I stand today. I hope to possibly get my nipples done, I haven't decided and definitely some tattoo work. My cousin's boyfriend is drawing out my first one as we speak. Before I go away to school, which will be in about 6 or so months, I plan to get my labret done. I'm excited about that.

So I'm sure there will be more sarah mods to come, please check back.
