Braver Than I Thought |

I have to share this experience with everyone because for me I am so happy with the way things turned out.First up let me start by saying - I am 29 years young, I have one child, apart from a few ear piercings that is about my limit with body art. For the longest time I have wanted to get my eyebrow pierced - but since having my daughter I have developed a low pain threshold & have a very queasy tummy.
Anyway, on the few occassions that I visited Viccy Markets I always seen this guy in a converted 'ambulance' calling himself "The Piercing Doctor" - I was intrigued, as he looked very VERY professional, he wasn't covered in tattoos or piercings so he wasn't at all intimidating.
Just a young(ish) guy, around late 20's early 30's at a guess. Inside the bus (as I will call it) was very very clean & very well laid out - that impressed me - hygeine is a must in todays world. He even had a little air conditioner working to circulate clean air throughout the bus.
Anyway, we got to chatting, being my first time he talked me through everything, including the best type of jewellery for the job - I wanted what was best & what would heal the best. Not necessarily what was fashionable (after all, it can be changed later). He showed me quite a few rings & recommended what he thought was best - I cannot remember the size of my ring now, but it is a small one, & it suits my face best.
I laid down on the bed & he got to work - talking to me the whole time. First up he washed his hands & put on clean gloves. Then he cleaned, marked & sprayed my eye area with some stuff to numb it a little, it was very cold.
Then he opened everything fresh from sealed bags - I was very happy about that. He told me he was just going to clamp my eyebrow & then we'd go from there - When he clamped it he asked me how it felt, I said it was getting very tight, so he said he'd numb it some more first - (that was to trick me) cause next thing he said, how does that feel, the worst is over now.
And wala the hole was done - it stung like hell for about 5 seconds, quite a wicked burning feeling, but no where near as bad as I thought - he was very gentle at putting the ring through & even gave me a break when it hurt a little. I think I would of preferred him to just shove it in (remembering my queasy tummy & all) but it was really nice of him to be considerate & gentle (after all, he could of been rough, it wasn't his eyebrow being punctured).
I didn't bleed a drop :O) He said I was very sensitive (which I am) but was not a bleeder - cool huh :O)
I would absolutely reccommend this guy to anyone that is in or visits NZ! He was truly great & very very professional - & for someone with such a weak stomach like me, I did very well, & that was thanx mostly to "The Piercing Doctor". I would definitely go again - however I'm not into filling my body up with extra holes - the eyebrow was something I had wanted for a very long time, so to me, the bit of discomfort was worth it.....and the joy of having it now is great - I'm happy I did it :O)
If you choose to get pierced or tattoo'd - or whatever - just remember - do it for you & no-one else - and don't do it to keep up with trends - cause trends come & go like the seasons :O) My daughter's reaction was proof for me that it has to be a personal thing & you have to be sure about it - My girl is 8, & when she seen me she flipped out, she walked away & wouldn't talk to me - I knew she was upset, but I didn't feel guilty that I had done what I wanted - I chatted with her about it - I explained my feelings & she explained hers - she likes it alot now & tells everyone about it.
Feel free to write me - I'll answer all mail :O) Oh & by the way, it's been one week since my piercing & it's going great, I wash it morning & night in the shower, otherwise I don't touch it at all, & it's really looking good - the crusty bits have started to arrive around the holes, but are very easy to wash away in the shower, the warm water is great for it - I love it :O)
