Well, I've been wanting to get something done for a long time. I was too lazy to get my sparrows drafted so I started talking about getting my nose pierced to a few of my friends. I bailed out a few times, but I finally had to put my foot down, if I said I was going to do it, by god I was going do it! Not to mention I had also just turned 18 this year! So I knew that was something I still had to do and cross off the "I just turned of age" list. I hope I'm not the only one who has done that!

So I drove to ybor with a friend, I had wanted to get it done at Atomic in Brandon on kings avenue, but they were closed at seven on a Saturday! So the first place I saw on Main Street we went in. There was some night parade going on and a bunch of god warriors (ha!) were hanging out outside. So I hurried and picked a shop to go into quick. Shiva's is a big studio with fake blood splashed on the white walls, some couches and a glass counter with jewelry and a register. I walked up, filled out a form about consent and not taking legal action, picked out jewelry (a screw with a ball on the end with a clear Rhine stone in it.)And paid about $40. Within a few minutes I was called back and mike the piercer welcomed me in while a novice piercer watched (ugh he had said at first that he would be doing the piercing, I'm sorry but If your new and just starting to pierce people don't tell them!). They marked me up and did the usual sanitizing, I was too nervous to decide if the placement was good, I just agreed, now I think it's a bit too far out on my nose. Now this is my first piercing really because I don't count my ears. They were done with guns when I was very little. They set up the tube and pushed the needle through. I have a low tolerance for pain and I said ow really loud, that was it though, I had some tears (which is natural) and a lot of bleeding (I have a blood disorder) They talked a lot about random shit to each other ignoring me and said friend, which I thought was kind of rude and dampened my experience, but it was done and looked great, I didn't really feel the jewelry go in, but it was still a bit painful. I felt better being able to stare at a bust of Bettie page which they joked that I was too young to look at (I look really young for my age, people normally guess that I'm around 13 D:)It throbbed a little for 2 hours or so, but after that it was fine!

I soon (5 weeks later) felt it was time to change the jewelry because it was just so big and bothered my manager, so I went to white buffalo and picked out a really cute flower/star with rounded edges. It fits my look a bit better and is flat so I haven't knocked it, or caught it on anything yet! Yayyy! But I took the jewelry out to soon to change it and learned my lesson! I had to drive back and have someone there taper it and put it back in. I felt like such a fool and I put an ear stud in it. I was freaked out because a lot of places say that they close up fast.. Yeah not that fast. They also bent it for me so that it would be easier to put in and out on my own (nose screws suck but are sooo much of a better choice than bones which you eventually can't take out.) So don't take your jewelry out early wait at least 6 weeks (not five) and continue cleaning it every day and if you get the evil bump like I did, just do a hot compress! Slap that big ole kettle on the stove and after the water boils pour some on a hand towel and just hold it for a few minutes over your piercing, you'll have to add more hot water frequently but it healed mine in just a few days. But I also popped it... so the scab just deflated a little, I don't suggest doing that though because I bled a lot and scabbed and was overall gross and welcoming to an infection.

The only downside to the piercing was getting that ugly bump above it, and how much it hurt to get the jewelry put back in after I screwed up.
