I got another piercing,I already have my madonna and 6 ear piercings (a few which I recently just reinserted after almost a year of not having anything in). My piercing choice of the day: a nose piercing! I spent about 2 weeks trying to convince my parents. My dad wasn't crazy about it. He's more straitlaced. My mom gave up trying to convince me otherwise. They kept making stupid jokes about it too, like when I sneeze blablabla.

Finally it was the weekend. I went to Far East Plaza (I was late, again..only by an hour this time though :)). My friends were already there. I was already lightheaded from the adrenaline. Entered the shop I'd already been to for my madonna piercing. I saw my friend Nick getting his dreads done. Not really a big fan of dreads myself. Anywho, I went in, told them what I wanted. One of the guys showed me the selection of jewels (nose screws). I paid first ($22), filled out the form.
I wasn't sure which color jewel I wanted so I asked Aidil (my piercer) what he thought. First he suggested the light blue one, but then he said the white/regular colored may stand out more. So I chose it. Normal crystal, 18k Gold.
He led me into the room, the same room I'd been in before. The chair had already been set up. My friend came in with me. So I sat down. Aidil cleaned my nose with a disinfectant I'm guessing, with a cutip. Washed his hands and all that. Then he asked me where I wanted it. I told him I wanted it on the left side but that I wasn't sure exactly where I wanted it.
He showed me a couple of different spots, then marked the one we both agreed on. He told me to lie back on the chair and tilt my head back. He put on the gloves and had this metal tube thing and a needle in his hands. He hadn't prepped me or anything this time and began to proceed putting the tube in my nostril.
And like most normal people (I think) who see a needle coming at such a close proximity to their eye I freaked out.
As he was putting the tube in my nostril and lifted the hand he was holding the needle with I automatically jerked back and said, "Ah! What are you doing with that needle?! Get away from me!"
Wow. It was embarassing but he was nice about it and laughed. So did my friend. So then I relaxed myself, tilt my head back and closed my eyes. I felt him reinsert the tube, and then I felt a dull pain on the side of my nose. It didn't hurt...well it did. But it's hard to explain. It's like I could feel him break through my skin and through my cartilage.
I opened my eyes when he said he was done. I looked at my friend and asked her if I was bleeding or anything, and to my relief she said no.
The piercing took about 2 seconds. My eyes watered a bit, I looked in the mirror- saw the needle with the cork at the end through my nose and was fairly amused. The pain had already gone to my surprise. He slipped the jewelry in. I wasn't really paying attention to how he did it, it was so quick. And bam. There it was. A little diamond on my nose :).
I went up closer to the mirror and was thrilled! It looked gorgeous. My friend agreed it suited me well. I gave Aidil a hug for doing such a great job.
I asked him a couple of questions about the aftercare. He gave me a small bottle of saline solution. Then I asked him whether I was allowed to smoke or drink. And I've read a couple of sites that said smoking and drinking inhibit healing but he said although generally it was fine. Yay! I was happy.
The rest of the day/night I was still so high off my fresh piercing and the response I was getting (especially from my boyfriend- he loves it!). And it was great the whole day. It didn't hurt or swell up, it wasn't even red or anything.
It's Wednesday now. I've pulled on it a couple of times, forgetting I had it. That hurt. This asshole even poked it, hard. Gees what an idiot. Cleansing has been fine. I've been using the saline solution and warm water to rub the outside and inside of my nostril with a cutip. Hopefully it won't get infected and it won't form a keloid or anything.
So far, it's been perfect :). Although I am getting a little sad how the effect of a new piercing is starting to wear away.
