yay! nose piercing at last.
So, I finally got my nostril pierced!
I had originally been dying to pierce my lip, but a few months ago I decided to give up on that idea, since my parents, my school, and my job all disallowed lip piercings. I started to think about nostril piercings, since I had always wanted one of those as well, (just not as much as my lip). My part time job allows nostril piercings, and my school doesn't seem to mind them too much as long as they are discreet.
I asked my mum and she said yes. I asked my dad and he said no. In the end, I got it done anyway. My mum said she would have no part in any arguments that might occur, haha.
I went to my usual piercer, and booked an appointment coz they were busy. For three days I dreamt of nothing except my piercing! The day finally came, and I started to get nervous – although a majority of the accounts I had read had said there was no or little pain, I had still read the occasional experience saying it hurt.
I walked in with my boyfriend, and had a conversation with the guy on the desk, and waiting whilst the piercer prepared the room. Then it was crunch time!
I walked into the room and sat on the bed. I had butterflies in my stomach, and I had my boyfriend next to me. My piercer seemed very nice, and I happened to notice she was one of the few people who made a septum ring look good (normally I hate them.) I felt quite stupid; after she had cleaned off the area, I squeezed my eyes shut expecting the needle...and she marked the spot with a pen. Ha-ha. She put the clamps on, and told me it would probably be the most uncomfortable bit. I have to admit, it was an odd feeling, it felt like someone else was picking my nose!
Then came the needle. For real this time. I had to close my eyes; I really just can't watch someone putting a needle into me, although once it's in it's fine. I felt a minor pinching sensation, more like lots of pressure than pain, and then I opened my eyes and stared into the mirror on the wall opposite to see a needle going through my nose! I usually close my eyes when the jewelry is put in, however I decided to have a look for once. Unfortunately, I couldn't quite see what was going on, however I think that the piercer attached some kind of tube which was then attached to the jewelry, and pulled through. This made my eyes water slightly.
I looked in the mirror, and smiled. I fell in love with it at first sight, although the stud is definitely bigger than I expected it to be.
The next few days of healing went well, with very minor pain (Although I did keep forgetting it was there and knocking it, which hurt!) and not really any problems. I used the salt solution I bought from the shop to clean it with.
A few days later I started to wonder what kind of jewelry had been put in. I thought it was a nose screw, but I wasn't sure, and It is kind of hard to look up your own nose. When I did manage to get a close look, however, I was slightly dismayed, it looked like a nose bone, and all I've heard about those are bad things. I felt very disappointed, since my piercers are usually good with jewelry, they even use proper surface bars for surface piercing. I decided to check on the internet again. Most places did indeed say nose bones were bad; however I came across someone saying that a high quality one was alright, because high quality meant a smaller ball that would cause less damage.
Disaster struck about a week after I had the piercing. I took my glasses off, completely forgot about my piercing, and pulled the bar clean out. It didn't hurt that much, just felt very, very weird. I pushed it back in as quickly as I could, however I noticed as I did so that the ball was exceptionally small, maybe only about 0.2mm extra or something? It slid in nice and easy, and my nose only hurt for an hour or two afterwards and there was no blood. I made sure I gave it a good cleaning after that disaster!
Funnily enough my dad didnt notice for well over a week, even though he'd been face to face talking to me. He only found out tonight...he yelled a bit at first and told me to take it out but I didnt, and he hasnt said anything yet...we shall have to wait and see!
