I have never been a fan of needles ever since I was a kid, however after seeing a friend of a friend with a septum piercing I told myself I had to get one one day!

Let me tell you where it all started. My parents don't like piercings but hate Tattoos even more. Even with my fear of needles I have always grown up loving tatts and piercings and wanting to get at least one of each. But due to my respect for my parents I decided not to go through with either until after I had moved out of home.

So not long ago about 2 months in my own place I get a tattoo, which I will write about later. But to the point, I feared the needle and the pain of the tattoo but in the end it wasn't as bad as I thought, and (after a good one on one conversation) neither was my mother's reaction.

So fast forward to about about 2 weeks prior to today and my mate gets his second piercing, so he now has his lip and eyebrow done. We were having a few drinks and I tell him I've always liked the septum/bul ring piercing and my mates all pay me out saying they should tie a bell around my neck if I get it. This is where I finally thought, "F**k it, I'm doing it"

After a week of research and a good new years pay packet I decide to ring up the shop and book it in for the next day but end up booking it in for that afternoon. I go down to the shop and theres a couple customers buying products and a few staff all seeming like they want to go home. My piercer comes up, a cute young blonde lady not much older than me. And she sits me down on the chair, goes through the whole signing the form, pick out the jewelery and cleaning my nose etc.

Now by this time I'm crapping my pants, after all my biggest fear is needles and I've read so many reports that this piercing hurts the most. Anyway she puts the clamp up and feels around and it accidently locks on the cartlidge, and by god that hurt. She realigns it and locks it on the skin and its pretty dam uncomfortable and makes my eyes water. She asks if I'm ready and before I can prepare myself the needle goes through. I close my eyes, let out a growl and grip the sides of the chair until my knuckles turn white and by that time its over and the jewelery is in.

I sit up and she is really concerned about me, asking repeatedly if im dizzy or want some water and she wont let me stand up. But surprisingly I feel fine and there is no real pain, just uncomfort as I now have a piece of metal hanging from my nose. Which after a good look in the mirror, I realise it has definately been worth it.

Anyway I end up walking out to pay, all the staff give me compliments (which helped, who doesn't like compliments after they have there body ripped open) and ask if it hurt. First thing I do, after buying cleaning products for my nose, is ring up my mate and tell him I did it. He never thought I would go through with it, so I decide to drive over it. Now I probably recommend not driving straight after getting it done, but not for safety reasons such as being light headed or dizzy but mainly because you won't be able to keep your eyes off the rear vision mirror.

Yes it hurt but not for long, only the initial pain as the needle goes through after that adrenaline kicks in and can feel nothing. It's now 3 days after and the only things that hurt now is the tip of my nose if i touch it and if i move the ring too much, mainly when cleaning. About 3 hours after cleaning I get a sensation which feels like the inside of my nostrils have dried up mucus but when cleaning I dont seem to get many crusties if any at all.

A good thing about a septum piercing which I like is it is easily hideable. Some places I work don't approve of facial piercings so I can easily flip mine up into my nose and unless you look directly up my nostrels to see two stainless balls, you wouldn't notice it at all. However I like tp wear it down as much as possible because it looks so god damn cool!

I would recommend this piercing to anyone that is contemplating it. It looks good and if a big baby like me can put up with the pain anyone can.

Thanks for reading my piercing experience, I wish you luck for yours!
