About six months ago I got my Septum pierced. I have one other piercing not including my nose. My first piercing which my best friend had done, was my lip. It was during the summer before grade 11 and I was so excited to get it. I could not even believe my parents let me get it done. Now during the summer before grade 12 I had my septum done. It's my favorite piercing. I was so happy I had gotten it done, 3 other friends of mine already had it done already and I could not wait till I had mine. About 7 months ago I was seriously thinking about having the other side of my lip done to have snake bites, again. I had it pierced before, but my mom made me take it out, she thought it was too much and I was too young. I asked her if I could get it re-pierced and just like I thought she said no. She said that if I find something else, something that does not stand out as much she would think about it. A septum instantly came to mind. I told her how I could just swing it up and hide it inside my nose if I really had to. She told me she'd think about it. When she says that it usually means yes the next day.

For a week or so I searched for a piercing place that was reliable and asked all my friends where they had gotten theirs. I had my first lip ring done while I was on vacation in the United States so I did not know many locally. I am a really big fanatic about piercings, although I do not have many I absolutely love them and now that I was finally aloud to have another one I wanted to get it instantly. So I looked on the internet and found a place called Skinners Tattoo Works. I was finally ready to get my septum done. I walked in the place and watched a guy get a tattoo right on his spine, it looked awfully painful but for some reason it intrigued me and before getting my piercing done a looked at a few tattoos and saw some really interesting ones. Obviously my mom instantly rushed me away from the tattoos area, seeing her face actually made me laugh. I really nervous though, 2 of the three friends said that theirs did not hurt, but when I went with my other friend to get hers done she looked like she was about to cry. That really scared me but I knew I had go through with it. I finally went to the counter, my mom talked to the people there and signed the papers, since I was obviously underage. He then told me to follow him to the back room. I sat down on the bench and waited in anticipation. I asked if it was going to hurt and to be honest. The guy told me it hurt probably as much as my lip piercing so to just sit tight. Thinking in my head that my lip piercing did hurt quite a bit I was getting awfully anxious. He then started talking to me about piercings and how he got all his done which to he honest calmed me down quite a bit.
He then cleaned my nose, the stud, and the needle right in front of me which also gave me some comfort knowing the equipment was sterile and clean. He asked me then to just lie back and brace my self. He grabbed the clamps and adjusted them and then quickly put the needle against my skin and pushed it through. Surprisingly it did not hurt as much as I thought, a lot less then my lip piercing although I will admit I did feel it quite a bit. He then put the ring in I choose, quickly cleaned up and told me I was good to go; I was so excited. I literally ran to the front room again and paid for it. The guy had suggested I take some cleaning spray and even asked me to come back in a month for a check up free of charge which I really liked. I cleaned it regularly, which i will admit was a hassle but worth it in the end. I went back a month later and they told me it looked really good and noticed I have been taking really good care of it.
Over all I'm extremely happy with my septum and I'm trying really hard to convince my mom to let me have the other side of my lip done to finally complete the snake bites I always wanted. I actually think she's giving in. I was also thinking of getting a Norma jean tattoo on my back, being my favorite band I think it would be really awesome.
