Before The Piercing:
At A Glance Author anonymous When It just happened Artist Tom Studio Hairhouse Warehouse Location Colonades, South Australia I had thought about getting my nose done for about 3 months. I mentioned it a few times; but I noticed, Mum never really commented on it. I always noticed people's nose piercings, and always thought (i know it sounds vein), " That would look cute on me". Then as couple of weeks ago, I started asking people I knew what they thought It would look like, the opinions varied; but I decided I didn't really care what other people thought. I then started to ask the few people i knew that had them how they went. It was mainly the pain of the piercing that worried me. I heard a couple of horror stories; that I tried to ignore!!Overall, everyone I spoke to had a good experience. I decided I wanted to go through with it; but I had one last hurdle; Mum.
I wasn't sure how to approach Mum about it. So i just brought it up casually in the car. to my amazement, Mum said "Oh sure, I think they look quite nice, yeah thats fine". I was stunned!! This also made me really nervous because there really was nothing stopping me now.
I called my friend; who also wanted to get it done; and we arranged to go together. Unfortunately, she couldn't get it done on the same day; but she still came with me, and I will go with her. We met at Colonades at around 1:00. I was starving; cause I ate breakfast at 7:00 that morning. My friend told me that I wasn't allowed to eat until I had the piercing done, because she didn't want me to be sick with nerves!! I was so nervous and having doubts, but my friend was like "You have to do it, you have wanted to for so long, and plus, you wont be able to eat until you do".
The Piercing:
So we went straight there, When we walked into the shop, I went completely stiff and couldn't talk. I filled in all the paperwork with my shaking hand. I met Tom (the piercer) and he instantly made me feel a bit calmer, he has a fair few piercings himself; including both sides of his nose.I don't think I would have felt that great if I had a piercer with no piercings!! They had to call my Mum, because I was under the age of 16. When they got the okay, I was led into a small room and instructed to sit on the bed. My friend sat on the chair and we both listened to Tom as he told us how to clean the piercing after. I was so nervous I couldn't really comprehend what he was saying. My eyes started to wander around the room and a froze up when I saw all the instruments sitting on the bench. They were all in new packets; which I had already asked about.
Next, he cleaned my nose (inside and out!) and put a mark where he was going to do the piercing. I gave him the okay, and I was told to lie down. I did so and closed my eyes. I was pretty stupid and opened them for a second again and I caught a glimpse of the needle about to go in my nose!! ( I don't recommend looking!!) Tom told me what he was doing, and made me feel really comfortable. I felt alot of pressure when the needle went in, but after that I felt a bit of tugging and then I was all done.
After I had the piercing done; I paid and was told to have a sugary drink. Me and my friend went and had lunch, which made me feel a lot better.
I found the lead up to the piercing a lot worse than the actual piercing. The piercing was over before I knew it and It wasn't as bad as I expected. I felt really comfortable with Tom, the way he talked me through it and told me what was going to happen; and what was happening. If i ever decide to get any other piercings done, I will definetely be going back there.
Now:
This only happened today, so it's still feeling a little tender and throbbing a bit. I'm also taking my friend that came with me today; to get her's done on wednesday. If she is still keen!!?? I hope this has helped anyone that is unsure about getting it done. It's not that bad!! I'm now thinking of getting my belly-button done, which I have been told is not as bad as your nose! So it should be a breeze! If I can do it, everyone else can!! Just take the plunge and do it, you will thank me!Well I better go and clean it!
