I have had an obsession with piercings since a young age. When i was in grade two, I wanted a tongue piercing, but when I grew older i forgot about the idea for a while. In grade 9 I decided I wanted a nostril piercing, and I begged my parents for months. They said no, so I researched on the subject. I found out every single pro and con to nose piercings. Then I used my knowledge and attempted again. At Last my mom gave in. All that was left was my father. He agreed to the idea the day before we had to go to Pembroke to pick up my brother.

I looked through the phone book and phoned the first tattoo shop I seen. To my surprise they were open seven days a week, from 12 in the afternoon until 8 at night. The nose piercing would cost 40$ Canadian.

On the drive to Pembroke I was totally calm, getting ready for a experience that would fill me with joy. I Knew once I got this, I would never go back! When we picked up my brother, and started to head there, he was looking at me funny because he always thought people who got piercings are stupid.

We arrived at Master Mindz and I was flipping out because I have a fear of needles. Anyways, my mother and I stepped into the place, and I looked at all the tattoo drawings on the window, and on the walls. Eventually a lady came over and asked what I wanted. I told her I wanted a nose piercing, and she smiled kindly at me while giving my mom the liability sheet. I had just remembered to check the room, and it looked spotless! Totally clean!

When my mother finished signing the paper, the lady asked me what kind of nose stud I want, and I asked for a gem. So she put the clamps in the autoclave, and I had to wait 25 minutes to get it done.

During the wait, I kept wondering if it would hurt, or if I would look ugly with it. I kept having regrets and wanting to run away, but the 25 minutes came up before I managed to say anything.

Sorry for taking so long, now I will get into the piercing detail.

I was asked to sit in what looked like a bed kind of thing you would see in a doctor's office, and she put on a pair of gloves. She asked me what side I would like my nose piercing on, and I said my left side if possible. She smiled, and marked my nose and asked me to take a look in the mirror. I loved where it was, so I sat down, and she explained what would be happening. She opened a bag with a needle inside it, and placed the clamps on my nose. I took off my glasses so I would not be able to see the needle, and so she would not have them in her way. She asked me if I wanted her to tell me when she is sticking it in, and I said no. So I closed my eyes, listened to the music (Wolf mother - woman) and waited for the pain. I waited 20 seconds wondering when she would shove it in my nose, and was surprised. The needle was already stuck in my nose! I watched her take the stud out of a package that was tightly sealed, and felt a little pain as the needle was pushed out. The stud got in with no trouble at all, and it only hurt a little. When she finished she gave me a tissue because my nose bled, and she explained the aftercare instructions. Then she gave me a bag of salt for cleaning it, and explained other stuff I should buy to promote healing of the nose piercing.

I left the room proud of myself, and extremely happy that I accomplished what I thought was impossible for myself to do. I entered the other side of the building and payed for the nose piercing which came up to 42$, and then went skipping to the car. I Showed off my nose piercing to my brother, and asked him, "So do you still think it's stupid?"

I adore my piercing, and now I am thinking about getting a vertical labret piercing. If you have any information I could use on the piercing, please contact me. My email is pyropunkbabe@hotmail.com

If you are thinking of getting a nose piercing, I say go for it!

It is not as painful as most people think, and the worst part, is the clamps because they add pressure to your nose. Up to this day, I have had no infections at all, and it is easy to care for. If you need any information on a nostril piercing, be free to email me!
