To start off I got my right side of my nostril pierced about 5 years ago by a friend (I know Yuk!)

Fast forward to about 3 months ago I wanted to spice my face up, and get the other side of my nose done.
I went to a local piercing shop to which my FAVORITE piercer ever was spotlighting at, told him what I wanted and went to the poking room.
After closer inspection he told me my right side was very low, and he could either pierce my left side to match or pierce it where he thought it should go. I told him to pierce it right and maybe later on I could get my right side fixed later on..
And so he did. I picked out a dome shaped CZ stone stud that he just got in from Industrial Strength, He went to the back and bent and cut it. ( I'm not a little diamond girl but I work in a hospital so I got to keep it little and nice )
One two deep breath you're gonna feel a poke blah blah. And it was done.
For anyone who wants to know if it hurt – yes.
It was all said and done and I looked at it in the mirror and was HORRIFIED. Not because of the new piercing but my right side was VERY noticeably lower then my new one.
I immediately said "ummm any way I could get the other side done actually... "
Jake was not impressed. He said because he likes to line them up and pierce them at the same time.. And that the new one was swollen and will be hard to "match".
But he was on for the challenge.
He did so. Took about 10-15 minutes just drawing dots and making me look all over the room. He said my nose was not "perfectly proportionate" so this was extremely difficult.
He finally was happy, and pierced the second side.
I was MUCH MUCH more happy. They were very straight.. and looked good.
My friend came with me, She was there to get her nostril stud fixed (it to was in a bad spot & had a black keliod-ish growth) She liked my double nostril so much she asked if she could get it done too.
This time though Jake could draw the lines together and pierce them together. So it went a lot smoother.
She found out that her original nose piercing was black and had an awful bump because she had put "garbage" jewelry in at one point that the metal / finish coating rubbed off and deposited it in her nostril pores. (FYI people who don't care about jewelry and don't think it matters)
So everything is fine and dandy.. Find out that our piercings are pretty cheap ( about 100$ for 2 piercings is cheap in Calgary, Especially with nostril screws which are more then 25$)
Aftercare was the same as usual.. Sea Salt soaks & everything was fine.
Until about 2 months after the initial piercing. I woke up and my nose was sore, like I had just got it pierced. I just thought 'oh I must of tugged on it at night' and did a sea salt soak.
As the week progressed I got a bump on the inside and outside of my right nose. I did sea salt soaks, but they didn't seem to help much. I then started using peroxide (I know! I know! But the piercing was healed.. And It fixed a problem I had once before ) I did peroxide for a week and it didn't seem to do much either. So I did my research online and was told Tea tree oil could help for hypertrophic scars, Tried that and it too didn't help so then I called the piercing shop, they told me to use bactine (ahhh!! I lost 4 piercings to bactine; I wouldn't recommend using that garbage even on a wound!) So I called another piercing shop, Who was rude when I told them I didn't get it done there, they told me to talk to the piercing shop I got it done at - When I told them I did, And I wasn't happy with the advice.. They told me I was doing everything wrong, Sea Salt soaks are too harsh and to only be using Vitamin E.
So I did that, only used vitamin E. Still not helpful. My inside bump was fairly huge & the outside one was "peaking" past my stud. So I was nearly ready to take it out. I decided my last choice was to go in and see my friend who works at a piercing shop. I told him my story. He said "oh don't worry about it noses do weird things! Just take Vitamin E oil and MASSAGE in it to your piercing; just putting it on with a Q-tip does nothing"
So I did that too, Helped a little but wasn't completely curing it.
I decided to do more research. I read that when a piercing is acting up it doesn't hurt to treat it as if it's new, and to be cleaning it. So I went back and got some Anti-bacterial & unscented soap that I used on some piercings that can't deal with sea salt.
I've been doing this for about 4 days & my outside bump is gone & the inside one is 50% smaller,
I'm So happy!
My experience has been a learning one & I've had many piercings but none as troubling as this. I hope my trial and errors can help others with my same problem (there's a lot of people I have found!)
I went to a tattoo convention and bought some beautiful new 2mm balls that I'll get my piercer to bend when my nose is fixed!
