The story begins not too long ago. I would say about 2 or 3 weeks ago. The summer was almost over, and of course, I was ready for a new piercing. I had done my lip and ears before so I thought I was pretty good at piercing myself. I've also been into body modifications since I hit middle school. But the one thing that I felt I could not do myself was pierce my nostril. What makes this story so much different than the others...is the fact that I had to pierce my nose about 8 times before it finally went through.

Me and some of my friends were partying at my house once night when I decided to ask my friend Emily to pierce my nose. We get all prepared: clean the stud, needle, and my nose with rubbing alcohol, numb my nose, get the jewelry, etc. Then I grab Sam's hand and Emily popped the needle through. Not as painful when you are holding the hand of a muscular man and your friend is quickly shoving this needle through your nose. Pulling the needle out was a pain in the ass, though. The only problem was...the jewelry just didn't want to go through. So we re pierced it and once again... it did not work. Several people took a whack at it, but it just wouldn't work. It just ended up with me in a lot of pain. This is why you shouldn't do it yourself. Eventually we just gave up.
The next week, I tried again. This time on each nostril just in case one started giving me some trouble. I did the same preparation and what not and once again...nose stud would not go through. Not on either of my nostrils. I even tried sitting around the house for about an hour and a half with a safety pin through my nose. FYI kids at home: Don't Do it yourself.. Especially with a safety pin. It is very unsafe and most of the time people really don't know what they're doing. I would reallly suggest that you get piercings done by a professional in a very sanitary environment. So that doesn't mean let your best friend do it in your bathroom. Anyways...I gave up that time too.
Another week later...another party at mi casa. Same ordeal... just had to give up again. Those little pop in nose studs are just too short to fit through your nostril. But I didn't have a nose ring so I had no other choice. Just in more pain, I don't think it was all really worth it.
Off topic short story: That night I sat and watched my friend Kalie try and pierce her labret while she was drunk. Once again children, don't try this stuff at home. Especially you little freshman coming into high school with your self pierced lip. Parents shouldn't allow such a thing.
Back to my story now. FINALLY...I had a full day by myself since my parents were out of town. I decided, "What the heck, I'll give it another shot." I tried something new this time, which was shoving an earing through to absolutely penetrate the hole on the inside since it quickly closes up. This worked and I easily shoved the stud right in =].
Interesting story? Yes. But very painful from the number of times I pierced my nostril. At least I have a nice little nose stud now. But...DUN DUN DUN the only bad thing was a couple of days after I pierced my nose, my mom and her husband came back from their vacation. I do believe I got away with it for awhile...until my mom actually tried talking to me. I talked to her face to face and she didn't even notice! Until I started walking away...hahaha. I'm actually really surprised she let me keep it. I suppose her view on it is just if she makes me lose it then I'm only going to do it again.
So now I have 0g ears and a nice little nose stud. I do believe what I'm doing next is piercing the other nostril and once I turn eighteen, I'm going to get my high nostrils. Yes, I am the bomb diggity. Especially since I conquered my fear of piercing my nostril.
Good things about this: My nose is doing fine and there is no infection. It is extremely easy to take care of since all you really need is some Dial soap. Plus it looks cute on me.
Bad things: It's painful. It is very very very very risky to pierce it yourself. My friend had done hers a few times before and hers got horribly infected. It isn't much fun having a bump on your nose and a scar. Also the entire experience was somewhat painful. Not the worst feeling in the world, but still...painful.
