It's September 2007, I'd just started school and saw how many girls had the nose piercing I had wanted for over 3 years. I felt like I was the back of the pack again. I was the girl who was always behind. I decided I would get it pierced no matter what. I asked my mom and she said I could......as soon as I got a job and could pay for it. Well I seem to have the worst luck with jobs. I had quit one been fired from another and not even hired from two before that. I couldn't pay for my own tofu never mind a piercing I was already in debt to my parents (how lucky am I -_-). So I decided to take a do it yourself approach.

It was two am and the idea to pierce my own nose sorta popped into my head when i saw the sewing needle. I looked at it and thought "why not?"...bad idea number one. I also decided to use a sewing needle....bad idea number two. The worst idea probably came when I decided to use a small earring as a nose stud....DING DING DING WE HAVE A LOSER. I searched around the house for my mom's sewing kit, rubbing alcohol, ice and a lighter. I gathered them all up and dumped them in front of the mirror. I stood there staring at myself gong "what are you thinking?"
I tried to pierce it with a small needle. No go, it really didn't do anything and heal over way too quickly. I searched around the house and finally found a bigger needle. PERFECT!. I went into the bathroom but I turned around to grab something and rocked it off the counter....right into the cat litter(I had kittens at the time). I was starting to think I was doomed never to pierce my nose but I decided to give it another go and found one the same size.
So I grabbed the needle and stood in front of my bathroom mirror plotting a nice spot to have it. I'd watched a bunch of videos on youtube and had a rough idea what to do. I iced my nose a little while I sterilized the needle and the nose stud. It wasn't that hard to get it through the first layer of skin but then it wouldn't go through the last bit no matter how hard I tried. The more I tried the more it seemed to not wanna go through. I finally remember that I had to make sure that the nostril didn't bend in when I pressed on it (uhm duh). I stuck my thumb in my nose and pressed hard but that didn't work. I was afraid that i would cut myself badly. I looked around my room for awhile and finally used my toothbrush (yeah weird I know). I stuck the nose stud in (painful!).I instantly fell in love with it. It looked so good on me. The only problem was that it was a little higher then it should be so I might not be able to put a ring on it. I put a bandaid over it so my parents wouldn't see. I snuck around showing friends but I eventually had to tell my sister so I had to tell my parents quick or she would.
After about three days of hiding it from them and sneaking to the mall to buy nose studs I finally wrote them a letter and left it in the mailbox on my way to school. I lied and told them I was tired and regretted it as soon as I had done it. I told them about the different things I'd learned and all about the after care. I also told them the damage I could have caused and the damage I still could cause. They seemed to believe it. Surprisingly they weren't that mad. They just said if it gets infected I have to pay for antibiotics. I clean it three times a day with a q tip and soap. NEVER USE ALCOHOLS TO CLEAN IT. They dry out your piercing and your body could reject the metal.
The worst part of after care most defs has to be turning it. For some reason that hurts worse than the piercing itself. And I still have to wait awhile before I can put in the cute studs I bought.
Like I said piercing your own nose is a stupid idea. You can lose your nose, paralyze your face and the infection can go through your sinuses to your brain. All could cost a lot in medical bills so If you wanna pierce your nose spend the extra money to get it pro pierced.
