I had originally planned to get my septum pierced at Big Daddy's on the South side, by the time I got there; my nerves were definitely getting to me. I went inside and talked to the people working, and they told me that the piercer had just left. (It was walk in, and I didn't think to call first- my bad.) At that point I was kind of relieved, so they told me to go to Big Daddy's on the North side, when I got there, the piercer told me that septum piercings were the only piercing that she didn't do! (Can you believe it? Just my luck!) At that point, I was getting a little irritated. So I just went home, and started calling other places. I called Dragon FX in west Edmonton mall, and they said that they could do it. I hurried to west Edmonton mall from the South side, and got there by 8- when they closed at 9, perfect timing. So I went in and asked to get my septum pierced, they asked how old I was, and when I said I was only almost 15, they told me they couldn't pierce anyone under 18! (At this point, I was starting to think; maybe a septum piercing wasn't for me.) So I went home, and slept on it.

As soon as I woke up, I started calling piercing places, first I tried Ritualistics on Jasper Avenue, where I got my first piercing (lip, left side) a year earlier, and of course they were closed. Same with all the other places I called. Then I called "Capital Tattoo" and they said they could do it! And for about 30$ cheaper than all the other prices I had been given, so of course I made an appointment, for the same day an hour from the phone call.I waited for an hour to pass, which went surprisingly fast, and then when we were pulling up outside of the shop, I got nervous, but only for about 30 seconds, after that I was completely fine. I went inside and filled out the paperwork, picked my jewelry (a closed ring with a small little black bead) and met my piercer, Mark. He's quite beautiful, by the way. Then he took me to the back room where everything was set out, first he put on gloves and cleaned my nose, then made the marks where he was going to pierce, which actually took quite some time, but I didn't mind at all because I wanted it to be amazing. He asked me if I was nervous, and how I felt, and made me as comfortable as I could be. Finally he was ready and so was I, so I was lying down, ready, and he told me to breathe slowly, and I did as he said. Then in a second, he pushed the needle through, I'm not going to lie, it hurt- but barely. it was not any worse than being pinched! Putting the ring in hurt a million times more than actually piercing it. Like five minutes later after he was done adjusting it and everything, we were done! I got up and looked in the mirror; I fell in love with it instantly. He told me to come back in about three weeks to down size and what not and explained how to clean it.
I'm so glad that I didn't give up on getting my septum pierced, because I'm totally in love with it now. And I definitely would recommend going to Capital Tattoo, because I got my amazing septum piercing for only $55. If I got a circular barbell like I had originally wanted, it would have cost more. But they didn't have any in stock, but even before I knew that, I chose a ring.
Now it's only four hours after, and my piercing is feeling pretty good. It's a stupid thing to do, but I keep trying to turn the ring, because it's a bit crooked (where the ball is on the ring is at a weird angle, my piercing is STRAIGHT.) and that makes it sting a little bit. The only other time it hurts is when my nose itches and I touch it, without remembering to be careful, I've even sneezed and it doesn't hurt a bit. Soon, I'm going to clean it for the first time. I can't wait for it to heal, even though it will be a while. So far I've gotten a lot of positive comments on my piercing, my mother doesn't like it, but that doesn't matter because it's not her face anyways. Even my friends, who think septum piercings are gross, have been saying that I'm pulling it off really well.
To anyone who wants a septum piercing, don't be scared just because you read something that said it was horribly painful, everyone has a different pain tolerance, but it only lasts a second, I admit my eyes even watered. But it's completely worth it, and it would be a million times less scary if you go to a good piercing place like I did.
