Sadly, the reason for getting my nostril piercing was boredom. I really wanted something done and was considering getting a small tattoo. My friends had told me several times that I should get my nostril pierced because I have the face to pull it off. After realizing how permanent a tattoo is and thinking it through, I told my mom about my decision to get a nostril piercing. She argued and told me she didn't want me to get anything pierced on my face and that she would rather have me get a tattoo that is hidden than a nostril piercing. After a little arguing and convincing her that I would only have the piercing in for probably like a year or two and once I take it out it would barely scar and close up fast, she agreed. Realizing that she might change her mind soon, I called up some friends and told them I was going to get my piercing the following day.

I was extremely nervous and spent the rest of the day reading up on all different websites of people writing about their experiences. Some people had reported on having barely any pain and just a slight prick, while others had bad experiences and said it was the worst pain ever. Horribly enough, literally like 2 hours before I was going my friend decides to scare the crap out of me! She said she had gotten hers done a couple years ago and had taken it out. She told me that it was the worst pain ever and that her nose bled for 45 minutes straight. That story made me sooo nervous and I almost backed out. So to make sure I was going to go through with it I told almost everyone I was talking to on MSN that I was going to get it done. I figured if i had told people I was going I wouldn't back out because everyone was expecting me to go.

I researched a couple places and chose Yonge Street Tattoos, because my brother had gotten his eyebrow pierced there and because I had seen them do a tattoo on MTV Canada and they looked clean and professional. So yesterday (Sunday, August 12th) I met my friends outside the piercing place. When I walked in I was very impressed. The place looked quite busy and very clean. I nervously told the girl at the desk that I wanted to get my nostril pierced and she told me to choose my jewellery from the display case. I chose a small white jewelled nostril screw, and the girl handed me some forms. I signed all the forms, and then proceeded to pay. It cost 40 and then tax (because I had chosen the jewelled stud...rings and plain studs cost less) and then bought some sea salt spray for aftercare and the girl at the desk told me to sit down and wait for my piercer Amy. The one problem I had, was that I wasn't allowed to bring anyone in with me, which freaked me out slightly because I had brought people to hold my hand.

After about 3 minutes (which felt more like an hour because of how nervous I was), Amy came down and called my name. I followed her up the stairs to a white room and laid down. Amy was very sweet and I could tell that all the materials she used were new and clean. She put a plastic tube up my nose (to avoid an accidental septum) and marked my nose. She then took out a needle, and being completely nervous i started to squeeze the chair. The pain was literally nothing!! It wasn't even pain! I had scared myself so much from looking at horror stories online and was so surprised at the tiny prick that I actually felt. I had to ask the piercer if she was finished because I didn't think it was possible for it to hurt that little.

I came down and my friends were so surprised that it happened so fast. I love my piercing so much! I've gotten lots of compliments on it so far!! Cleaning it has been fine, twice a day I use a q-tip with warm water to get off the debris around the piercing and then use the sea salt spray that I bought on it. Its still a little weird feeling, not painful at all, I'm just not used to having metal on the inside of my nose but I'll get used to it.

Honestly, I have the lowest pain tolerance ever, and it didn't hurt at all for me. I definetly recommend the piercing as it looks so cute. But I do advise you to go to a professional piercing place...DO NOT do it yourself! Feel free to email me if you have any questions :)
