I had wanted my nose pierced since I was very young. Although it had become a huge "trend" by the time I decided I actually wanted it, I decided to go through with it anyway. I have a few other piercings (tragus, ears, naval, vertical labret) and this one was by far the easiest and least painful.
At A Glance Author Megan Contact Megan@bme.anon When Three months ago I went into my usual piercing studio, which I am leaving blank for personal reasons. I had told my piercer what I wanted and being as good as he is about piercings, he explained the entire process to me step by step. We started with a "nasal discharge" in other words, blowing my nose. He went on to clean my nose, this part stunk a little when he went inside there with the q-tip.
He spent about 20 minutes drawing dots, and wiping them off. He couldn't find the perfect spot on tiny little nostril. Once found, he made me look in the mirror to make sure I was good with it. Personally, I didn't really care the spot, they all look the same to me. Upon telling him this, he brought the two friends I had came with to check it out. Once we had decided this spot was fine (nearly half an hour later), it was time to do the piercing.
He did not use a clamp for this piercing, in order to not poke the middle, and give me a septum piercing in the process. I thought this was quite a good idea. Instead, he used a tunnel-like thing, to stop the needle once it was through.
Take a deep breathe, he said. Although I have had many piercings before, this is always the part where I begin to get a little nervous. I was so nervous. Not to mention that he spent nearly an hour just getting it ready. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the professional-ness of getting it ready but it just prolongs the piercing! Anyway, so I take a deep breathe and bam! The needle is in.
Thats all? I thought, so I opened my eyes, it wasn't done. The needle was still in there. Ewww! The jewelery going through hurt a little bit, but it was not bad at all. After the piercing was done I felt fine, but my piercer asked me to lay down because I was very pale and looked as though I was going to faint. I explained to him that I forgot to mention I had not eaten all day and, by this time, it was about 3 in the afternoon. So, if you are getting your nostril, or anything else pierced for that matter, make sure you eat!!
After going through after care, me and my new piercing were good to go. I used bactine for a week after and then just stuck to dial soap. It healed well.
But, about 3 weeks after that, I had to get my wisdom teeth extracted. In order to have this done, I was asked to remove my nose ring in order to allow oxygen into my body when I was put to sleep. I was not very happy about it. A piercing I had just spent 60 dollars on I was now asked to remove.
I went to my piercer and asked him what to do. He said just to take it out and try to put it back in my self. And, if I could not, to come back when I was feeling better and he would try to do it.
Let me tell you, those wisdom teeth hurt about 100 times more than the piercing. Ouch!! That is beside the point. When I woke up, and started to come off the anesthesia I tried to put my nose ring back in myself, no dice, it had closed up! I decided I was too tired to go get it done that day, so I waited until the next day when I was not as... drugged up, if you will.
The next day, I went in and my piercer tried to just stick it through. He pushed really hard and it really freakin' hurt! Similar to when I had tried, it would not go through. He told me he was going to have to use a taper needle. Ughh! Not another needle! I had just got one yesterday to be put to sleep which hurt very bad!
It felt like getting it re pierced! If anything it hurt more!! My eye literally watered this time! But, it was done and over, and he didn't charge me anything for getting it put back in. I was quite impressed. And like all piercings, pain is only temporary and it was worth it in the end. I love my nostril piercing. I would recommend it to anyone who wants it done.
