For the longest time, I didn't think very highly of septum piercing. Not so much that I thought they were ugly or stupid, I just didn't care for them. A little over a year ago though my girlfriend got hers pierced. I thought it looked good on her, but I still couldn't see myself with one. I found myself looking at them on bme one day though, and came across the large size gallery. I saw pictures of people with large septums, wearing tunnels in them, sticking random shit through them. I was hooked immediately, I wanted one! I found myself looking at the gallery with some frequency, liking the look of the piercing more and more with time.

I wanted it dermal punched, mainly to prevent any drooping, but also because I was didn't want to go through what I had read was a very painful stretching process. I waited over a year before even asking though, as I was scared of the procedure. I read as much as I could though, reading every bme experience report about dermal punched septums and large septums in general.

Finally feeling totally confident about wanting what I knew would be a permanent mod, I walked into Rockstar a couple of weeks ago and asked if they did dermal punching and was told they did. I then asked if they would dermal punch my septum and was told that no, they wouldn't. It was the opinion of the piercer that dermal punching a septum would remove too much tissue, possibly creating complications if I wanted to stretch further on down the line. I was told however that they would pierce it as large as 8 gauge. I really wanted it dermal punched due to the reasons stated above, but decided to get it pierced at an 8, mostly due to the fact that I really like Rockstar and didn't want to go elsewhere to have work done. I had to have the jewellery ordered however because I can't wear stainless, so I had them order the titanium retainer and waited.

Two weeks later I received a message on my phone that my jewellery had arrived. I called and made an appointment for 8 that night, and began to get nervous. I ate a bit and waited. I arrived at Rockstar at 7:55 and filled out my paperwork and payed. I sat and waited for the piercer who would be doing my septum to finish up with his current client. I flipped though the portfolio and fidgeted.

After finishing with the person before me he cleaned the room and called me in. While Jeff was setting up he told me his biggest concern with punching a septum was that it would be very difficult to get it straight. He also went over aftercare with me. He cleaned my nose and had me stand up on a stool so he could see up into it. He marked the bottom of my nose with a line and had me lay back on the table with my head hanging over the edge. He placed the receiving tube up against the left side of my septum and the needle against the right side. I closed my eyes before he actually pierced me, but I saw that the needle had a glob of lubricant on it. He moved the needle and tube around a bit, then told me to take a deep breath. I did, and he told me to exhale slowly. I braced myself expecting incredible pain. He pushed the needle through and I experienced a pretty intense feeling of pressure, as if someone had pinched me really hard and held it. What little pain there was lasted maybe 20 seconds. Tears streamed from both eyes as I had expected them to. I felt him move around the needle and he told me to scoot forward on the table. For what reason I still don't know I sat up and wiped my eyes. I looked into the mirror and saw the needle still in my nose with a rubber cork on it and realized that he had simply meant for me to put my head back on the table. I laughed and layed back down. He put the retainer in and said told me to blow my nose a little bit. I did, then feeling him flipping the retainer realized that he had actually said flair your nose a little bit. Luckily I didn't blow snot everywhere. I flared my nose and the retainer popped inside. I sat up and looked in the mirror, I couldn't see a thing no matter how I tilted my head, which was the point of a retainer I guess.

I tipped Jeff and left, feeling awesome about my new nose metal. I was sitting in the tea bar down the street when I felt something wet on my upper lip. I was bleeding, but Jeff had told me it probably would. I mopped up my face and went back to drinking tea. My nose was a little sensitive for the next day, but it was never sore. It has only been three days since I had it done, but already it feels great, the tip of my nose is no longer sensitive and I am greatly anticipating it being fully healed so I can begin to stretch it. Rockstar had this far been the only place to pierce me and I have no reason or desire to go elsewhere. They pierced me for a very fair price and I have the utmost respect for their staff.
