Ever since I was young I was always interested in piercings. My septum was not my first, but thats the piercings I've wanted for the longest. I held back for a few years from getting it, because I was worried it wouldn't suit me, or it would be really painful, or it would go wrong. A lot of people said to me, it wouldn't suit me because i was a girl, and it wouldn't look right. But about a year ago, I stopped listening to people, and just went for it. I saved enough money, and that was one of my best decisions of my life! (so far)
At A Glance Author Gee Contact the_phantom_agony@hotmail.co.uk When A year ago Artist Colin Studio Exeter Body Piercings Location Exeter, England I walked into the shop, explained to Colin, my old piercer (Body piercings has unfortunaly shut down due to the amount of competition, Since then i haven't had any more piercings as Colin and his Co-worker Nik are the most trust-worthy piercers around here in my opinion)what i wanted done. He then said he hasn't many girls septums, and that he thought I was brave! Which started off my nervousness I think. I filled out the forms, sat down in the waiting area and picked up a guest book, and read peoples septum piercing experiences. It sounded really painful. I read one message from a 30 year old man who cried! By this point I was getting slightly more nervous. Colin then came out of the piercing room and said everything was ready.
I followed him in, sat on the chair and told him i was very nervous. He was really sweet and got me a glass of water and explained the pain would only last for a few seconds, then it would all be over with. I felt slightly more comfortable. He put on his gloves, took out some sort of cleansing wipe and cleaned where the piercings would go. He then unwrapped the needle, and jewelry, and got hold of a septum clamp. The clamp didn't hurt that much. He then gave me some tissue to hold under my eyes because he said they might water alot. By this point I got alot more nervous. He put his hand on my shoulder and told me that it would be okay. That didn't really help alot though! He then got the needle, told me to breathe in, then out. I felt a pinch, which i thought was the clamp, he then told me it was over, and he was just going to put the jewelry in. I was so suprised. My eyes watered a little bit, but not alot. I hardly felt anything. I stood up and looked in the mirror, i was so pleased with it. He then gave me a leaflet on after care, i paid about £25 and was given another glass of water and was told to sit down for a little bit before leaving. After that was on my way to show off my new piercing! All my friends reaction was the same; they loved it!
There was no bleeding or anything. The over the next few days there was no pain, apart from when someone head butted me in the nose. That hurt alot more than the actual piercing. Just be careful at first, it stings alot of its knocked.
It healed up nicely, no problems at all. It's also really easy to hide, as you can get septum retainers which you can't see at all which was useful as i was working. I've also not worn jewelry for about 2 days and the jewelry went back in fine. Now a year on, i still love it as much as i did, and think it looks brilliant. Septum piercings are the coolest thing ever. I'm even thinking of stretching it pretty soon.
Definitely one of my favorite piercings. If someone is thinking of getting a septum piercing, go for it! You definitely wont regret it. I'm so glad I got it done, and everyone who told me not to get it was pleasantly suprsied of how it turned out.
I'm very sorry to see Exeter Body piercings go, they were brilliant. I trusted them completely with all my piercings, and they have all turned out exactly how I expected them to look. I have never had any problems with any of my piercings there at all. They were also very caring of their clients, and made sure they were 100% comfortable, and made sure that they were sure of the piercing they wanted to get. Thanks to them I have developed my piercing addiction. I love it.
PS If someone is holding out because of the pain, it really doesn't hurt that much! And it is over with pretty quick, as there isn't much to pierce through. Just make sure the piercer has the correct type of clamp, they are alot more accurate. I wouldn't like to see a septum piercing gone wrong! And they look just as good on girls! I will post some pictures of mine.
