Most of the stories I've read on here about septum piercings started off with "I used to hate septum piercings..." but that is not true for me. I've always loved nose piercings and I am a HUGE fan of symmetry. So naturally a septril or septum piercing would be great. I don't personally like septrils, so I was thinking of opting for a septum. I'm not sure exactly when I started wanting a septum, but I knew I should wait at least a few months so I knew it wasn't just a passing fad. 3-4 months later, I wanted one just as bad if not worse. I asked my dad if I could get my nose pierced, and he said as long as he never saw it. Awesome deal. I found a place that looked nice and clean, and when I got there, they were. Everyone was friendly and nice to me. I paid for everything, then my piercer introduced himself, and off we went to the room. He followed the standard procedure, cleaning, finding the sweet spot, marking it. I asked about clamps, and he said he wouldn't use them. I thought that a little strange, but he said it would be fine. I should mention now that this is my first facial piercing. I have my earlobes done 3 times each, done by myself, but that's it. I glimpsed the needle and flipped out. I asked to see it and he asked "Do you REALLY think you want to?" I agreed, no I really didn't. But it was too late and thoughts similar to "OH BALLS. A needle BIGGER than a toothpick is going IN MY NOSE." were running through my head. So I took a minute to calm down. After I was ok he told me to take 3 deep breaths and the exhale he'd go for it. I started to feel the needle go in, and then come out. There was honestly a teeny tiny bit of pain, but that was it. I read all the stories on here with people saying it didn't hurt, and I didn't believe them at all, I guess some people just got lucky. I waited for the pinch of the jewelery going in (14g retainer), but I didn't even notice. I didn't bleed. Nothing. I was ecstatic.

Then I looked in the mirror. It was VERY VERY crooked. I told him "Hey, this looks REALLY crooked." and he agreed. So he asked me if I'd like to just take it out, or try again. I thought "Hell, it wasn't so bad at all. Lets do it again." so he prepared again. It hurt alot more this time. I looked, STILL crooked. I was a little upset at this point. He told me he didn't want me to go home unhappy and that he'd pierce something else if I wanted, or he could try again. He then said, "Wait a minute. Let me see your nose again." I obliged, thinking that maybe he should have done this BEFORE the first time. He then informs me that I have a deviated septum. Yay! So this time he gets clamps. It definitely hurt even more the third time, and as soon as he had done it, I decided I was NOT doing this again. If it was crooked oh well. I looked, it wasn't. It was beautiful.

He felt so bad for having to do it 3 times he gave me a free CBR and 2 free shirts, which I found very nice of him. I felt high all day long, and kept on staring in the mirror all day. This totally euphoric feeling has pretty much followed me around since then, I get all giddy whenever I see it or am reminded of it. I even named my retainer Fredrick. I've had absolutely no problems with it in the slightest. It doesn't hurt, I can flip it up just fine, I honestly even really like cleaning it. I enjoy everything about it. My friends all love it, the only negative comment I got was from my grandmother saying "I thought you had boogers on your nose from far away." If there's one thing I'd like to convey most to you, is that if you are wondering about getting your septum pierced, DO IT. Really. It only hurts for a second, if at all. I know I have a really low tolerance for pain, and even I didn't think it was so bad. Maybe you won't get so lucky and it'll hurt alot, but it will only be for a second. I honestly think that it hurt my friend I went with more, I was squeezing his had really really hard. Oops.

Please ignore the yellow teeth, I just took this now and I've been munching on popcorn all night :p Feel free to email me, I'd love to talk or hear from anyone who's considering it :)
